About this listen

"He said if he hadn't heard from you by high noon today, he was going to strap on his six-guns and ride back into town. So I think you should call him, Charlie. Call him before you come home."

Charlie Hills, former desk sergeant at Kings Lake Central, is in trouble. He hasn't told Smith, his old friend and sparring partner, but someone has, and now the two former policemen are about to embark on a difficult and potentially dangerous search for the truth. For one of them, it could be life-changing.

Thank goodness there was more DC, even if it is in a different environment.
The same indomitable character - pedantry in tact!
I loved hearing this story - especially as he gets his head around his changed circumstances! I really enjoy hearing all the mini discussions as he nuts his way through problems and issues, especially now with Jo installed fully into his life.
I do hope there are more books to come!

A new life for DC

Brilliant storyteller and very imaginative yet poetic in terms of understanding human nature. Recommend all his books.

They didn't really delve into how DC recovered from almost dying at the end of the previous book . Other than that this was another interesting book in the DC Smith series.

It can happen in the best families.

Only problem is I’m nearly at the end of the series! I hope Peter Grainger plans to continue the adventures of the inimitable DC Smith.

Yet another great book from PG

It was like coming back to an old friend! Your narrator is excellent, I listen to lots on Audible and Gildart Jackson is the best ever! Can't wait until the next Kings Lake episode is on Audible so I can catch up with Cara Freeman and Chris Waters. So are we going to have DC continue as a PI. Are they all further going to come into some sort of conflict in the future!

Brilliant!

Such a relief to find DC is back. New moral dilemmas and crimes to solve. Wouldn’t he be a lovely character to meet in real life?!

One of my favourites

Another development in his story and enjoy the interesting characterisations, original concepts, dry humour, erudite protagonist reminiscent of Rumpole.

I love D. C. Smith - another great episode
