About this listen

This is DC Smith's third investigation with the Diver and Diver Associates agency. They have been asked by a member of Norfolk's aristocracy to look into the tragic death of her younger brother, Freddie, the late Lord Thorpe of the title. The inquest verdict was of misadventure, but it isn't long before Smith begins to suspect there has been a serious miscarriage of justice.

I really didn’t want to interrupt my reading of this book. It was absolutely riveting and the details of the investigation were superb.
The narration was first class as usual.
Thus us the best book in the series.

I love all the DC Smith books. They are smart and engaging. I almost want a related book that follows the police investigation. The narration was, as ever, excellent. The Kings Council voice a hoot! Can’t wait for the next book.

Being familiar with Peter Grainger’s exquisite mind for detail, somehow I found this story to be extremely drawn out with details not relevant to the actual mystery. As if this is the prequel to the actual story.
