Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of Mort is narrated by the BAFTA award-winning actor Sian Clifford (Fleabag; Vanity Fair; Quiz). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'YOU CANNOT INTERFERE WITH FATE. WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE WHO SHOULD LIVE AND WHO SHOULD DIE?'

Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job.

Death is the Grim Reaper of the Discworld, a black-robed skeleton with a scythe who ushers souls into the next world. He is also fond of cats and endlessly baffled by humanity. Soon Death is yearning to experience what humanity really has to offer, but to do that, he'll need to hire some help.

It's an offer Mort can't refuse. As Death's apprentice he'll have free board, use of the company horse—and being dead isn't compulsory. It's a dream job—until Mort falls in love with Death's daughter, Ysabell, and discovers that your boss can be a killer on your love life…

The Discworld novels can be enjoyed in any order, but Mort is the first book in the Death series.

The first book in the Discworld series—The Colour of Magic—was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Wonderful full version! Yay, it’s not abridged

Loved the story, every voice was amazing bar Albert who was like listening to fingernails on a blackboard.

Brilliant performance!

if you are reading this, then chances are you have already either read More or listened to one of the older audio books. I highly recommend this version, the voice actors are brilliant and truly do it justice.

Excellent

This new recording of the Discworld audiobooks is both entertaining and very welcome. The voice casting is top notch.

Witty and well observed

This is the first Discworld novel I’ve listened to and won’t be the last. Performances were spot on and anyone who knows Terry Pratchett’s books will know the story is a delight. If you’ve not encountered them before, this is a great place to begin. Performances were clear and emotive, and suited the story perfectly.

Brilliant!

Absolutely brilliant! Mort has always been my favourite of Terry Pratchett’s novels and I’ve so looking forward to hearing this new recording and I pre ordered it as soon as it was released, so it’s been a looooong wait! And didn’t let me down! Will listen to over and over, Death is a brilliant character and brought to life so well. Amazing job all around!

Fabulous

Just how I imagined Death! And Sian Clifford narrates superbly. Mort is one of the best Discworld novels IMHO, and this cast does it justice.

Pretty Good

While this isn’t one of my favourite Discworld stories it is still very enjoyable. Only quibble is that I found some of the narrators characterisations not quite right. Especially the character of Albert, but I realise this is also a personal opinion of mine and not what others may think.

This version of Death scares me

Hi, I am sorry. This recording's Death scares me. I can't take it.
I'm sorry. I liked the kinda cute bumbling, trying-really-hard version by Stephen Briggs or Nigel Planer.
Indira is otherwise entertaining as a multi-charactor narrator.
Thank you for re-vamping the audiobooks!

Slowing required

Narration seems to be in the wrong speed, only seems to be reasonable at 0.9. Otherwise all good
