Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of Feet of Clay is narrated by impressionist and actor Jon Culshaw, best known for BBC Radio 4’s Dead Ringers, and for the Doctor Who audiobooks and dramas. BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'IT WASN'T BY ELIMINATING THE IMPOSSIBLE THAT YOU GOT AT THE TRUTH, HOWEVER IMPROBABLE; IT WAS BY THE MUCH HARDER PROCESS OF ELIMINATING THE POSSIBILITIES.'

Commander Sam Vimes of the City Watch is used to trouble. There's always trouble in Ankh-Morpork.

But this is new: people are being brutally murdered and there's no evidence of anything alive having been at the crime scene. At the same time, the most powerful man in the city has been poisoned and is clinging on to life by a thread.

It's a conundrum of a case. With the help of Captain Carrot, the only watchman who knows the law inside-out; Corporal Cheery Littlebottom, an unconventional dwarf with an eye for forensics; and Constable Angua, a werewolf with an excellent sense of smell, Vimes tries to solve the mystery.

But time is of the essence, for something extremely dangerous is loose in the city, its red eyes glowing in the night…

Feet of Clay is the third book in the City Watch series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.

The first book in the Discworld series - The Colour of Magic - was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

A Must

Definitely one of my favourite Pratchett books. Well narrated. They've done very well with these new recordings

Great book - not great narration.

I LOVE all the Watch series and have several of the other recordings. I’ve been excitedly waiting for these new ones as I’ve enjoyed the Witches ones I’ve heard so far. Unfortunately, this narration was very disappointing. The narrator speaks so slowly I sometimes wonder if he’s fallen asleep before the end of the sentence. He’s somehow made Nobby and Fred Colon sound 80 which in this book they’re certainly not meant to be. I also really dislike the choice he’s made for Lord Vetinari - and for Wilikins… Vimes’ voice is a good interpretation but that’s about it. I wish I hadn’t wasted two credits excitedly getting the two Watch books I didn’t already have.

Jon Culshaw is AMAZING

Of course Terry Pratchett books are incredible, so I was a bit worried about how this narrator would go. The way he does voices is amazing - all the tricky ones like women, animals (!!!) and all the men’s voices are SOOO different from each other, he kinda… paints them. Looked him up and apparently he’s famous for voice impressionism. All the Vimes books are done by Jon - gosh, I hope the non-Vimes are as good!

Almost perfect

The narrator does a great job with nearly every character, but Angua just did not sound right to me. Even when she was shouting, it sounded like a meek simper. Angua is a badass and needs to sound like one, imo.

Feet of Clay

Took me to places hitherto unexplored; questions of moral identity and integrity, where it lies and who has the right to wield it. Pratchett ‘s way of thinking is artfully unique. I’ve learnt so much from this book , my life and vision thereof is richer for having done so ⭐️🩵⭐️

Narrator has ruined Discworld

5 stars as always for Terry Pratchett’s Watch series, and Feet of Clay is no exception. Made me laugh out loud one minute and sob the next.
Jon Culshaw, however, has completely ruined the books with his completely off narration. Has he read the books at all before he started narrating, does he understand the characters at all?! As another reviewer mentioned, he made Angua sound like a wet hen. Carrot was so one-dimensional, Drumknott snivelling. Bring back Nigel Planer - someone who actually gets it!
