It helps me from all sides

It provides aspiring novelists with an appropriate structure on which to hang their story ideas; and, if you've already written a novel, you can also use this structure to see where you may have gone wrong.

Fully impressive

I genuinely felt that by dipping into this resource and podcast I was better able to continue in my journey with excitement and mystery without losing enthusiasm or worse, giving up. This audiobook doesn't hold your hand every step of the writing process - but does give you understanding and supportive company of someone else sharing in that same dream.

Point by point written

The brilliance is in the way she holds your hand as she tells you "so this is what you should be doing here and here and here" and then breaks down various bestsellers from various genres (you're likely to have read at least one of them no matter what) to illustrate the point.

Don't bother

this is a self-proclaimed self-edit by a clearly experienced author. This demonstrates how difficult it is to self-edit. Don't do it!
The contents is insightful in places but gives the impression of being mostly made up of other writer's ideas. The reading sounds like a computer.

Well organised audiobook

This well-organized guide examines the key elements of characters, conflict, premise, storytelling and climax that combine to create riveting dramatic fiction, i.e. a damn good novel.

Like this audiobook

If you are a writer, or have ambitions to be one, and you haven’t formally studied creative writing or story structure, I highly recommend this audiobook. It’s definitely made me look at my own scenes with a more critical eye and helped me understand why some of them are falling flat. Five stars.

Very very useful

As a writer, I welcome any approach that helps me to look at my work objectively. So I found this middle-out approach to building the structure of a story genuinely useful.

Choose it first

I've had three novels published for children and have listen a good few "how to write" audiobooks over the years. I enjoyed this as it came at story writing from a slightly different angle. Some good ideas that I'll be trying out for my next audiobook

Remarkable audiobook

Bought this 3 years ago but just got around to listening it. Apart from the advice to start from the middle of your novel, there are plenty of tips to improve fiction writing. The author certainly knows what he is talking about.

Easy ways to follow

You see, many writers (including me) just start writing without realizing how easy it is to fall into the multiple traps that can ruin their audiobooks. Anyone can write a novel, but to write a best seller, you need to understand what makes a novel successful.
