Publisher's Summary
"Pinter is in fine form with Hide Away. You’ll burn through the pages." (David Baldacci)
From the bestselling author of the Henry Parker series comes a page-turning thriller about a vigilante who’s desperate to protect her secrets - and bring a killer to justice.
On the surface, Rachel Marin is an ordinary single mother; on the inside, she’s a fierce, brilliant vigilante. After an unspeakable crime shatters her life, she changes her identity and moves to a small town in Illinois, hoping to spare her children from further trauma...or worse. But crime follows her everywhere.
When the former mayor winds up dead, Rachel can’t help but get involved. Where local detectives see suicide, she sees murder. They resent her for butting in - especially since she’s always one step ahead. But her investigative genius may be her undoing: the deeper she digs, the harder it is to keep her own secrets buried.
Her persistence makes her the target of both the cops and a killer. Meanwhile, the terrifying truth about her past threatens to come to light, and Rachel learns the hard way that she can’t trust anyone. Surrounded by danger, she must keep her steely resolve, protect her family, and stay one step ahead, or else she may become the next victim.
Critic Reviews
“Featuring a strong female character out to set things right, this mystery is full of twists and turns. [Narrator Angela] Dawe keeps up with the breakneck pacing and takes the listener along for the ride.” (AudioFile Magazine)
“Pinter does a masterful job of ramping up suspense about the Marin family’s past and the current case, spinning an absolutely riveting plot with a cast of full-bodied, fallible characters, in what seems the start of a promising series. Fans of both domestic thrillers and police procedurals should get in at the start.” (Booklist, starred review)
"Pinter builds a complex plot on the dual mysteries of Constance’s murder and Rachel’s transformation from suburban mom to crack investigator and lethal streetfighter.... Pinter creates engaging characters...and keeps the suspense taut.” (Kirkus Reviews)"

Yes yes this is a good thriller. The characters interesting and not too many so I know who is who. Angela Dawe is a great narrator. It does get a bit soppy she goes on a bit it drives me crazy the way mothers go on about their kids Still it wasn’t too much in this book. This is a thriller that has a almost happy ending.

Excellent fast paced procedural !!!!
As a fan of Jason Pinter I’ve been looking forward to the release of this new book. He hasn’t released anything new in quite a while.
This book is FANTASTIC! Rachel Marin is a strong female protagonist in this character driven thriller. She is hiding in plain sight in a small Illinois town with her two children. Seven years earlier her husband had been murdered and she became expertly trained in self defense and weapons. When the former mayor is murdered Rachel involves herself in the investigation. When Rachel first came to town this woman had reached out to her A mutual friend had told her about Rachel and she wanted to assure her that she had her back. She wished she could have had her friend ‘s back in life but refuses to let go until the murderer is found.
If you like Rachel Caine or Robert Dugoni this book is for you.
If you have kindle unlimited this book is free to borrow with the kindle edition.
Angela Dawe does an excellent job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

WOW, that was intense. HIDE AWAY in Book 1 in Jason Pinter's Rachel Marin Thriller series. I see that Audible listener Shelley listened to and reviewed this novel before I finished it. I suggest you read her excellent review and reward her with a helpful vote.

Excellent..
This was a good murder mystery but I didn’t see any reason why 6 year old Eric needed to find his dead, dismembered body of his father. It could been just Rachel alone who found him. That was my only complaint.
I will admit that I was surprised at who the killer was. I would never have guessed him.
I did like Tally and Serrano. They were good cops and Rachel was a pain-in-the-ass all the time for them to deal with. They never really found out that she could have kicked their asses, if she wanted to.
There was nothing sexual at all and the F-bomb was used 6 times.
As to the narration: Angela Dawe is a perfect narrator. She laughs and cries and whispers when the book calls for it. And her male voices are perfect. Unlike a LOT of female narrators the men never sound like girls. It doesn’t get any better than that.

A Pleasant Surprise of a Good Read (Listen)!
I had never read or listened to a Pinter book before, and knowing how many "almost good" writers are out there these days, I approached this book with some trepidation. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a very well-written thriller with enough action to satisfy my need for such in a book, and a good story line that was, for the most part, engaging, entertaining, and just plain fun.
There were only a couple passages that caused me to scratch my head. For example, what on earth is an "open fist"? But the head-scratchers were so few as to be forgivable, in light of the excellence of the rest of the book.
The strong female protagonist had me rooting for her all the way through, and the narration by Angela Dawe was spot on for enhancing the story.
I will be reading more books by Jason Pinter in the future.

Facts are a little sketchy.
I realize authors are allowed literary license to make up facts. However, if you're going to use real town names at least make it realistic. How does a river run NORTH out of Western IL to Cedar Rapids, IA? Doesn't the Mississippi River kind of prevent that? If a body can plummet off a bridge and break the ice, how can that same ice then support 5 people standing around it? If there are 5 people there, why do they need a snowmobile to transport the body? Why does Rachel drive down Interstate 74 to make a phone call, but later the police go to a business just off Interstate 84? Details like this and many, many more just grate on my nerves. If you can get past all the glaring errors, it's a good book.

Good book.
I did like the book and the story line is good. Not “can’t stop listening” good, but good. It did start to wear on me as the narrator said “he said” or “Tally said”, or “Rachel said”. Not sure why, but this almost made me stop listening.
