Home Brewing: A DIY Guide to Creating Your Own Craft Beer from Scratch is intended as a starting guide to home brewing beer. Beer has been around for hundreds of years, and its very early history was in the homes of beer lovers as they tried to create their own delicious drinks. As time has gone on, the process for making beer has been refined so that it can now be commercially produced, but that has not stopped hobbyists from continuing to make homemade beer just for the fun of it.
Because brewing beer is such a long and scientific process, each step of the way presents the brewer with new options and techniques that can be tweaked any which way to create new styles and flavors. The beauty of the craft beer industry and home brewing is that it allows for plenty of creativity and innovation, which has produced hundreds of different types of beer that all have their own unique flavor. As you get further into home brewing, you too can emulate these styles and maybe someday create your own.
This book begins with a brief history of the craft brewing industry and its impact on home brewing, then goes into detail about how to get started brewing beer within the comforts of your own home. From equipment to ingredients, we have provided full descriptions of everything you need. It is meant as a guide for absolute beginners, so we have gone into detail about what is known as extract home brewing, but even those who are interested in partial mash brewing and all-grain brewing will find a wealth of useful information. Though our step-by-step brewing process is not specific to any one kind of beer, we have also provided a guide to the different styles so that you can modify the steps, as you need. Whether you want to create your own India pale ale or pilsner, we have the answers.

Pretty basic. My biggest complaint though is they didn't even edit out their mistakes. I noticed three times the narrator messed up and started a line over completely over and they didn't even edit it out. you know the basics you probably won't learn too much.
I could barely get through this book because he just read fast with no passion and didn't know how to say many words correctly. I dont recommend it. sorry Richard Altman. its not your fault

New to homebrewing in the past year and found this book very informative and helpful in how I will approach this new hobby. What makes this book great, is the flow and readability that the author put into this. I couldn't stop reading and found the section on the history of beer and the process very enjoyable. I was right! Great book and would recommend it to anyone even at retail pricing!
I bought this for my husband who wanted to start making his own beer. Now my kitchen is full of home brewing equipment, and he spends more time making beer than I spend making meals. He frequently uses this book as a reference and says it is very good. He's had a lot of fun making his first batch and seems to be learning a lot.
This is regarded as one of the best books for home brewing. It is a must have on any home brewer's bookshelf. My only complaint is that it's an older book and probably needs an updated version. Also, it lacks information on the Brew in a Bag method. But, the information in this book is invaluable.
This should be your first purchase if you're looking to get into homebrewing. It covers everything you need to know to start your journey. Richard Altman does a great job explaining the intricacies of the brewing process in easily understandable terms. He also provides a vast amount of information on equipment, ingredients, and a section of recipes in the back to get you started. I always keep this book around on brew day.
Book offers lots of helpful information for the home Brewer! Book arrived quickly......i would like to recommend it greatfully
Well explained, clear and concise and has moments of humour. Great help to move beyond an entry level home brewer.
Good book with lots of information! If you're new to home brewing or looking to expand your knowledge, this should help
Item delivered on time, was as described, great customer service. I would Definitely buy again and I would recommend to my friend
Finally received my copy, and love how this book is put together. Each page has clean uncluttered design, and great informations contained in this book are mind blowing
Packed full of awesome information and laid out in a way that makes sense as you listen and learn different techniques. Highly recommended to any new or experienced brewer
I agree with all the reviews praising this book. The book educates the listener in a hands on way that can still (and will) be used as a reference for future brews. Want to know how to add coffee to a beer? Decide which malt and hops to combine in a recipe? Make a sour beer? The book explains in a concise way that I've found to be trustworthy--a definite bump up in usability compared with scrolling through home brew community pages for hours (fun when you have time, not when you're mid-brew)
Whether you're just starting out with all grain brewing like me or a fairly seasoned brewer I am certain you can pull some knowledge out of this book!
This book is absolutely fantastic if you're looking to move "beyond the basics." It truly incorporated everything I was looking for. I was an Extract brewer, that was admittedly a little intimidated by the prospect of moving to all grain. This book makes the process extremely simple and easy to understand. The steps are well explained
So far i brewed about half of the recipes illustrated on this book and all of them tastes great. Look forward to brew rest of the recipes
