Publisher's Summary

This breathtaking novel travels more than a century between two love stories set in the Australian seaside town of Lighthouse Bay.

In 1901, a ship sinks off the coast of Lighthouse Bay in Australia. The only survivor is Isabella Winterbourne - escaping her loveless marriage and the devastating loss of her son - who clutches a priceless gift meant for the Australian Parliament. Suddenly, this gift could be her ticket to a new life, free from the bonds of her husband and his overbearing family.

One hundred years later, Libby Slater leaves her life in Paris to return to her hometown of Lighthouse Bay. Living in the cottage that was purchased by her recently passed lover, she hopes to heal her broken heart and reconcile with her sister, Juliet. Libby did something so unforgivable 20 years ago, Juliet is unsure if she can ever trust her sister again.

In this adventurous love story spanning centuries, both Isabella and Libby must learn that letting go of the past is the only way to move into the future.

A nice love story

An easy story to listen to, showing how difficult life was in 1900s.. another of Kimberley’s interesting and detailed books, and Caroline Lee is my most favourite narrator.

Excellent story!

Loved it... the characters past & present became like friends. I was sad to say goodbye. Can't wait to buy the next book by Kimberly! And Caroline is now one of my favorite narrators!

A match made in heaven!

I was already a fan of Kimberley Freeman. And Caroline Lee may be my favorite narrator of all the audiobooks I’ve listened to thus far. So I was excited for this book. I’m pleased to say that I was not disappointed. Lee is great at distinguishing characters and portraying their emotions with subtle tone changes. And while long novels sometimes take time to grab your attention, to draw you into the story, this one was rather instant. Another wonderful Kimberly Freeman and Caroline Lee match up.

LOVED this book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Lighthouse Bay to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lighthouse Bay?

So many memorable moments! This one is such a beautiful drama! I truly drove many an extra mile to listen in my car. It had me wrapped up in the story right from the get go & gripped my attention throughout! Fabulous!

Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to one other so far - definitely going to listen to more!! This one was the best so far!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were many moments that moved me. Very relatable, well developed characters. I could feel their joy, despair, fear, relief - this one definitely takes you on a journey!

Any additional comments?

I can't wait to see what else this author has to offer. I truly enjoyed this one!

sweet but disappointing

by half way I was skipping through the chapters. I really just wanted to see what happened with the romantic storylines. the mystery, if you can call it that, was unimpressive. Th characters were pretty much horrible. Libby is delusional and frustrating. How could she have any self respect? To be in a 12 year affair? It was maddening to see her go in circles.
I felt bad for Isabella but her obviously mental incapacity was painful and I think, a little TOO stressed. It took her too far. And then suddenly at the end she's all better? So confusing.

The only characters I liked in this book even a little were Scott Lacey, Juliette, and Damien. And even so, the age gap with Juliette and Damien did make me uncomfortable, although I was rooting for them.

Overall it was rather too pshycological for me, given I genuinely disliked most of the characters.

A Wonderful Seaside Set Novel

What did you like best about this story?

The setting of Lighthouse Bay was quite charming and really added dimension to the story. Freeman really made it easy to picture the town with her vivid descriptions of the businesses, houses, and residents. I especially loved reading about Juliet's B&B and Libby's cottage.

Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

As always, Caroline Lee's narration was phenomenal. She always brings the novels she narrates to life with her riveting voice. I also love the unique tone she gives to each character, without ever making it distracting.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I found that I could listen to Libby and Juliet's chapters for much longer than the Isabella ones. The past storyline didn't interest me as much as the present, unfortunately.

Any additional comments?

While I really enjoyed this story, I was a bit disappointed with Isabella's story. I wish she would have had more character development. I felt some of her issues were swept under the rug and didn't get the feeling her character ever reached true stability.

Narrator was distracting

Good story. I enjoy this author, but the narrator’s voice grated on my nerves. She made the female characters whine often with a strange squawk at the end of their sentences. Because of this, I feel I didn’t like or relate to them as I would have with a better narrator.

Just a romance

If you like romances, you will likely enjoy this book. I had trouble relating to Isabella, and I did not love Libby either as for the most part they got trapped in problems that were of their own making.
