While visiting her friend Brook, the true owner of the Fire Eyes diamonds, Ella accidentally gets entangled in an attempt to blackmail the dashing, newly reformed Lord Cayton. Will she become the next casualty of the alleged curse?

Lady Ella Myerston can always find a reason to smile - even if it's just in hope that tomorrow will be better than today. All her life everyone has tried to protect her from the realities of the world, but Ella knows very well the danger that has haunted her brother and their friend, and she won't wait for it to strike again. But that proves complicated when old friends arrive on the scene and try to threaten him into a life of crime. He does his best to remove the intriguing Lady Ella from danger, but the stubborn girl won't budge. How else can he redeem himself, though, but by saving her - and his daughter - from those dangerous people who seem ready to destroy them all?

Too much death and violence

I liked the book, "A Name Unknown" so much that I wanted to try another book by this author. Unfortunately I DID NOT like this story. It was very dark, with no real surprises on who the villains are. I thought there might be a twist, which is the only reason I finished the book, but there was not. I don't feel that the book ended well for anyone other than the hero and heroine. There was room for other characters to find happiness or love, but no. One character in particular I was hopping would see the misguided way he was trying to help, but at the end she turned him into such an evil horrible person, I couldn't root for him any longer. Also, why did there have to be so much death? And shouldn't people turn good? I mean, it's a fantasy. There may be true evil people of the world in reality, but I think we read stories to escape the dark and evil of the world. I wish this would have been more inspirational, like, "A Name Unknown" . I wish that those who had pain and suffering in their lives could have found God and faith and been freed of their suffering and turned out to do good and be good. That's what I want in a novel, for people to be freed from evil, turn to God, and find happiness. I want to walk away from a book feeling lifted, inspired, not sad over so much loss for the characters. If I want violence, death, and cruel, evil people, I'll just watch the news.

Incredible Series Ending

Would you consider the audio edition of A Lady Unrivaled to be better than the print version?

While I haven't read the text completely, I did listen to the entire audio edition. I love the way the narration immerses me in the story. At times, I would listen to the audio while reading the text. I would have to say that the audio edition is every bit as good as the print version and for me just a little bit better.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I adored Lady Ella. She was so overly positive that her few moments of irritation and frustration were very entertaining.

What does Liz Pearce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Liz Pearce gives each character a unique voice and I love her accents. Since so many of the characters have distinct accents, it made it all the more enjoyable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed aloud many times while listening to this audio edition. I also found myself wanting to yell at the characters when they were being particularly dense or obtuse.

Any additional comments?

Such a wonderful audio edition. I only wish that Recorded Books had created an audio edition of the second book in this series - The Reluctant Duchess. That is the only flaw. We have the first (The Lost Heiress) and the third (Lady Unrivaled) books, but not the second book in the series.

I love Ella...her heart, her passion, her vision, her faith. The author describes her characters and their settings in such a way as I could see them with vibrant clarity. Such a great book.

fabulous fabulous fabulous!

Well done Rosanna White! A captivating story that speeds along and twists and turns with fabulous character development. it makes you feel like you are caught up in the middle of it. Every bit as good as the writings of Julie Klassen. now it looks like I have two favorite authors rather than just one!
