Publisher's Summary

Maria wants to be friends.

But Maria is dead.

Isn't she?

When Louise Williams receives a message from someone left long in the past, her heart nearly stops.

Maria Weston wants to be friends on Facebook.

Maria Weston has been missing for over 25 years. She was last seen the night of a school leavers' party, and the world believes her to be dead. Particularly Louise, who has lived her adult life with a terrible secret. As Maria's messages start to escalate, Louise forces herself to reconnect with the old friends she once tried so hard to impress. Trying to piece together exactly what happened that night, she soon discovers there's much she didn't know. The only certainty is that Maria Weston disappeared that night, never to be heard from again - until now....

    "Gripping thriller"

This was recommended on Marian Keyes' vlog and it's easy to see why. It's a beautifully written gripping story.

Funny moment in the story where the presenter clears her throats and repeats her line. Missed the edit cut ;)

The audio hasn't been edited perfectly, so there are a couple of times where the narrator does a double take (and coughs).
The story is interesting, but it's hard to believe an adult could be so ignorant of her decisions.

"Great listen - Need more like this"

Really enjoyed listening to this story, it kept me interested, a lot of audiobooks leave me bored half way through.

The reader could have just been a little more expressive when reading certain parts, which would have kept me in more suspense, but all seemed to be in one tone. But this didnt ruin the book

"Lots of hints twists and turns, great narrator."

A good example of this style, and quite gripping. What I liked best was that the middle wasn't just waffle in between setting the story up, and the denouement ..like most now are ... but added to the plot , storyline and tension. This shows to me that the author has put more care than most into her story and I appreciate that. What I liked least was that I easily worked out who dunnit, which people did what, and that the obvious person was indeed the culprit, I would've liked a surprise. But a worthwhile listen, entertaining and worth the price. Well done all involved.

What did you like most about Friend Request?

I liked the pace. There were not long intervals where practically nothing happened.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Friend Request?

There were several but I would pick Henry being taken from school

What about Elaine Claxton’s performance did you like?

    No regional accent.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Neither laugh or cry. Not too scary either.

    Any additional comments?

If choosing this book read the content. Can't remember title, but there was an almost identical book last year - teenagers picking on pupil at senior school. Did ruin it bit for me as I always knew where it was going but was bit different. I find these popular writers do it lot, picking up content from each other's books and that feeling of having read book before is often justified. I did enjoy this book and would choose the author again.
