About this listen

This is a space where I share personal reflections from my life, drawing lessons from the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the stories of the Sahabah and those before us. Here, I speak openly about the moments that shaped me—the joys, the struggles, and the tests—and the reminders that keep me grounded in faith. My hope is that these reflections benefit me long after I’m gone and bring comfort to anyone who feels alone in their pain. You are not alone. I’ve been through it too, and if I can make it through, so can you.Aaisha Mubenga Islam Spirituality

  • The Weight of Manhood in Islam
    Oct 5 2025

What does Islam really expect from men?

In this episode, we explore the Qur’anic idea of qiwama not as control or privilege, but as amanah: a weight of responsibility, mercy, and accountability before Allah. We revisit the examples of Abu Bakr, Umar, and the Prophet ﷺ to uncover what true manhood looked like in their lives: sacrifice, humility, and service.

But we also face the uncomfortable truth how today many men chase authority while abandoning responsibility, and how cultural double standards distort the balance that Islam set.

This episode is a reminder, a challenge, and an invitation: for men to rise to their responsibility, for women to know the dignity Islam grants them, and for our communities to return to the prophetic model of justice and mercy.

  • marriage is not a destination
    Sep 22 2025

In this heartfelt episode of Marriage Is Not the Destination, I sit down with Sister Fatima Sab a modern Muslim matchmaker, for a candid and deeply needed conversation on the full journey of marriage: the before, the during, the divorce, and the after.

Together, we unpack not only the hopes and joys of marriage but also the challenges and fears that many women face, especially when contemplating leaving unhealthy or abusive relationships. We reflect on the Qur’ānic vision of marriage as a space of tranquility, affection, and mercy as Allah says in Sūrat al-Rūm (30:21): “He created for you from yourselves mates so that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy.”

We also explore Sūrat al-Ṭalāq (65:2–3), where Allah promises that even after separation He will provide for both parties from His infinite provision. This divine reassurance speaks directly to one of the greatest fears many women hold: the fear of financial instability and raising children alone after leaving a harmful relationship.

This episode is an honest, faith-centered discussion about what healthy marriage can look like, the courage to walk away when it is no longer safe, and the unshakable trust in Allah’s mercy and sustenance at every stage.

  • The envious woman
    Sep 9 2025

This week on The Seeking Covering Podcast, I speak to my sisters about a hard truth that sometimes, women become other women’s worst enemies. Behind the smiles, there can be secret envy, silent grudges, and quiet competition.

But our Deen calls us to something higher. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to love for our sisters what we love for ourselves, to support rather than destroy, to lift each other with sincerity and compassion.

In this episode, I want to peel back the layers of envy, reflect on how it poisons our hearts, and remind us of the beauty of a heart that loves for the sake of Allah. Because healing begins when we let go of envy and choose love instead.
