About this listen

In this heartfelt episode of Marriage Is Not the Destination, I sit down with Sister Fatima Sab a modern Muslim matchmaker, for a candid and deeply needed conversation on the full journey of marriage: the before, the during, the divorce, and the after.

Together, we unpack not only the hopes and joys of marriage but also the challenges and fears that many women face, especially when contemplating leaving unhealthy or abusive relationships. We reflect on the Qur’ānic vision of marriage as a space of tranquility, affection, and mercy as Allah says in Sūrat al-Rūm (30:21): “He created for you from yourselves mates so that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy.”

We also explore Sūrat al-Ṭalāq (65:2–3), where Allah promises that even after separation He will provide for both parties from His infinite provision. This divine reassurance speaks directly to one of the greatest fears many women hold: the fear of financial instability and raising children alone after leaving a harmful relationship.

This episode is an honest, faith-centered discussion about what healthy marriage can look like, the courage to walk away when it is no longer safe, and the unshakable trust in Allah’s mercy and sustenance at every stage.
