From profiles of professional athletes and Olympians at the top of their game to everyday women putting in the work without a crowd, these are true tales of fierce competitors, dedicated teammates, and passionate advocates who are all too accustomed to hearing the word “no.”

In the 1960's, California's Yosemite Valley was the center of the rock-climbing universe. Young nonconformists—many of them the finest rock climbers in the world—channeled their energy toward the largely untouched walls and cracks. Soon climbers from around the globe were coming to Camp 4—gathering spot for the creators of the Golden Age of Yosemite climbing—to see what all the fuss was about.

2025 is Sonnie Trotter’s 30th year climbing. He’s been at the forefront of the sport for most of that time, specializing in first ascents on rock faces most people cannot imagine scaling. In Uplifted, Sonnie recounts the most memorable moments of his career, also describing the rich relationships that are the spine of the sport.
