Witch's Bite

I've been living in a small town working for the vampires for the last six months. All I want is to save up enough to open an apothecary so I don't have to heal the neckers anymore. Of course, nothing in my life can be that simple. Two detectives show up at my door asking questions about a dead girl and trying to pin the murder on my employer. Next thing I know, I'm dodging fireballs in parking lots.

Most witches have a coven. Not me. For me, the protection a coven offers does not outweigh the risk of being discovered. I've worked odd jobs here and there peddling (mostly) legal potions I brew when I can. But when an opportunity to work for the vampires fell in my lap, I took it. I heal the people they feed on and don't ask too many questions. After less than six months working this gig, a girl turns up dead, drained of blood. Of course, I am the first person the police pay a visit to.

All magic has a price, and I'm paying it. My actions have attracted the kind of attention I've tried my whole life to avoid. Now, a dangerous vampire shows up at my house, uninvited, with an offer I can't refuse. He claims to have information on my mother, someone I've long believed to be dead. But his price for that information means agreeing to work with him to discover the reason behind the NWR's attack. I find myself getting drawn further and further into his games that risk all my secrets.

I'm stuck with Reilly and figuring out how to control my power, which is starting to feel more like a curse. I never expected to be working with JHAPI. I'm still not sure I can trust them, particularly Zachary's longtime co-worker who won't stop glaring at me. And I'm not sure Zachary has forgiven me at all. To make matters worse, I can't get rid of the welts on my arms, and I'm starting to see things I shouldn't. Despite my reservations about JHAPI, they seem to have a solid plan to hit the NWR in a way could shut them down for good.

After being kidnapped, shot at, blown up, and barely escaping a collapsing building...I'm done following orders, and the threats don't scare me anymore. My trust in Reilly has grown since the attack on the Summit and meeting his clan. But when he suggests the unthinkable, I realize I must find my own way to kill this god.
