Statin therapy is the first-line pharmacologic treatment for lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and reducing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk. However, evidence-based and guideline-recommended therapies continue to be underutilized — even among the highest risk patients.
