Anders könnte sie den hitzigen Konkurrenzkampf beim Toronto Herald gar nicht überstehen. Als sie erfährt, dass die berühmt-berüchtigte Schriftstellerin Dot Voline verstorben ist, zögert sie keine Sekunde, ihren Nachruf zu veröffentlichen … Doch zu früh gefreut: die geheimnisvolle Dot scheint noch quicklebendig zu sein.

Nadine Barbault, responsable de la rubrique nécrologique au prestigieux Herald, n'a rien contre le fait d'être appelée « La Dame en noir ». Cela convient parfaitement à son personnage de Reine des glaces qu'elle a cultivé pour survivre au rythme effréné du journal. Aussi, lorsqu’elle apprend que la célèbre et recluse auteure Dot Voline est décédée, Nadine n'hésite pas à rédiger sa nécrologie ... avant de découvrir que Dot est bien vivante.

Bientôt, Dee est obligée de partager sa maison adorablement douillette avec ses parents et sa grand-mère acariâtre.
