Story
On a November day in 1951 Neeley McPherson turned five...and accidentally killed her parents. Thrown into the care of her alcoholic grandfather, she survives by her wit, and the watchful eye of a black man, Gideon. In 1959, as equal rights heats up the South, authorities accuse Gideon of stealing a watch and using a Whites Only restroom. Neeley, now 13, decides to break him out of jail. When the infamous Catfish Cole, Ku Klux Klan Grand Dragon of the Carolinas, discovers their courageous escape, he pursues Neeley and Gideon into the frozen Blue Ridge Mountains to a wolf sanctuary.

Although frightened, 18-year-old Betsy Russell of Menotomy Village, Massachusetts, wants to be prepared in case of attack by British troops. Her father, prosperous farmer Jason, is the fourth generation of Russells on this land, yet their very rights as British Colonials are being stripped away one by one. Will the King of England take their land as well? Tensions are growing here in the countryside west of Boston and the outbreak of battle seems a certainty....

Story
Taking its title from a poem that newlywed Daphne sent her soldier husband during World War II, When You Come Home tells of their young love in the heartland at the brink of war, and of the crushing uncertainty and fear as they find themselves a world apart. And when the poem comes back to Daphne - blood-stained by Raymond's mortal wounds - When You Come Home shares the extraordinary event that restored the grieving young widow's faith in the transcendent power of love.
