El Tao Te King de Lao Tse "Viejo Maestro’, es un texto clásico chino. Su nombre procede de las palabras con las que empiezan cada una de sus dos partes: Tao "el camino", la primera del Capítulo 1, y "Virtud", la primera del Capítulo 38, con el añadido King, "libro clásico". Según la tradición, fue escrito alrededor del siglo VI A. C.
