Mumu is the psychological story of Ivan Turgenev about the deaf-mute janitor Gerasim, who, due to the whim of his lady, was forced to part with his beloved and drown his only friend - a dog. The author sympathizes with the simple and kind Gerasim, and his mistress portrays tough, cynical and capricious. Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (1818-1883) was a Russian author, translator, and popularizer of Russian literature in the West. "Mumu" is about Gerasim, a deaf-mute serf whose life of poverty is brought into sharp relief by his love for a dog he rescues from drowning. His wealthy old mistress sees the dog Mumu and wants it but Mumu bares her teeth at her, and tragedy follows.

Garassim begleitet beide bis zur Stadtgrenze und auf dem Rückweg rettet er einen Hund vor dem Ertrinken.

An audiobook adaptation of Turgenev's story set on the outskirts of Moscow, in the house of an old widow. The story was written in 1854 by Ivan Turgenev, a great Russian novelist of the nineteenth century. Turgenev wrote Mumu with such vivid images and reflections of the state of tsarist Russia that this piece, together with his other stories, was credited with having influenced public opinion in favour of the abolition of serfdom in 1861.
