Um nur wenige Meter soll sich Holmes diesmal irren. Und tatsächlich wird der "Ripper" erstmals auch wirklich bei einer seiner Taten gestört, kann den so präzise geplanten Symbolmord an Elizabeth Stride nicht wie erhofft zu Ende bringen. Aber genau das "muss" er.
