  • Pelvic Floor Therapy with Mind 2 Body Healing - Dr. Tara Sullivan & Dr. Kylee Austin
    Apr 16 2025

Welcome back to the You're Not Alone Podcast!

In this episode, we talk with Dr. Tara Sullivan and Dr. Kylee Austin, founders of Mind 2 Body Healing, both doctors of physical therapy specializing in treating the pelvic floor. They discuss the importance of treating dysfunction of the pelvis that may include bowel, bladder, sexual dysfunctions, and pelvic pain.

Listen in to hear what to expect at a pelvic PT session!

We also discuss advocacy efforts and when it comes to awareness, Dr. Kylee is not shy while promoting pelvic floor therapy - as her alter ego, Virginia Vulva! She has stopped parades and marched in Washington D.C. to provide a visual representation to break the social stigma and promote pelvic PT!

Dr. Tara and Dr. Kylee recently created PelviEd, a 3-month virtual residency program targeting clinicians looking to expand their knowledge in treating pelvic floor dysfunction. For more information, visit: pelvied.com

  • Rob's Story - CVA/Stroke Recovery
    Mar 18 2025

Welcome back to another episode of the You're Not Alone Podcast!

Rob lived his life following the American dream - he worked hard, supported his family, built his business, and squeezed in a golf game when possible. Then one night, his dogs woke him up, barking for no apparent reason. As Rob climbed out of bed, he knew something didn't feel quite right. After he was able to convince himself he definitely wasn't fine, he called for help and was rushed off to the hospital.

Sure enough, Rob had suffered a stroke. After a few days in the hospital and a short stint at the local in-patient rehab center, Rob continued his recovery with our team at Neuro & Brain. He worked very hard to leave the wheelchair behind, and was able to learn to walk again. He has regained much of his independence and continues to strive toward reaching his personal goals.

Thank you, Rob, for sharing your story! Thank you for continuing to work so hard and inspiring those around you!!

  • The Rockstar - Ryder's Story (Cerebral Palsy - CP)
    Mar 4 2025

Welcome back to another episode of the You're Not Alone Podcast!

This week we are joined by 17 year old, Ryder, and his parents, Kira and Greg! Ryder shares thoughtful insight to growing up with cerebral palsy (CP). Ryder is wise beyond his years and advocates not only for his needs, but for others around him. Ryder lovingly describes life with his siblings, Ruby and Hudson, his younger sister and little brother. Ryder enjoys a rockstar life, attending as many rock concerts as possible and most importantly, they are great bands that Val approves of!

Buckle up as we shift gears and talk with Kira and Greg about what it was like for their first-born to arrive early at 26 weeks, surprising them every bit of the way as he miraculously surpassed doctors expectations. Around year 2, they noticed Ryder was missing some of the big milestones, and he was diagnosed with CP. Despite learning their son would have challenges ahead, they charged forward with ensuring Ryder has everything he needs to be a successful and kind person.

Along the way they have witnessed miracle after miracle, often following a challenge presented to them in which they turned to their faith to get them through it. I think it goes without saying that we are all blessed to have crossed paths with Ryder and his family. They are strong and caring, serving their community and leading by example.

We are so thankful to Ryder, Kira, and Greg for joining us to share their journey!

  • Rob's Story (SCI Recovery)
    Jan 7 2025

Welcome back to another episode of the You're Not Alone Podcast!

Join us this week as we are joined by Rob and Jami Holley, a local Arizona power couple that are here to share their family’s story of how Rob acquired a spinal cord injury. Rob was injured on August 7, 2021 after a fun day on Lake Pleasant turned into a nightmare. The self-described giant who always helped everyone with everything had to now learn to ask and accept help as he navigated life with quadriplegia.

Rob and Jami candidly share their perspectives of how they manage recovery, marriage, parenting and life both individually and as a couple. It hasn’t been an easy journey by any means, but Rob believes that humor and taking it one day at a time with a positive attitude has been vital in his recovery.

Take a listen and hear how the Holley family is making it work, one day at a time, one step at a time.

Thank you, Rob & Jami, for sharing your story!

  • Michael's Story (GBS Recovery)
    Dec 24 2024

Welcome back to another episode of the You're Not Alone Podcast!

We are joined by Michael, sharing his story of recovery with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). GBS is a rare autoimmune disorder in which the body begins attacking its own nerves, resulting in weakness, numbness, paralysis, and can potentially become fatal.

Before GBS, Michael spent hours practicing meditation, yoga, hiking, and traveling. GBS stopped him right in his tracks, paralyzing his right side.

Thankfully, his mother was a physical therapist and provided him sound advice: "Listen to the diagnosis, and ignore the prognosis."

Michael has spent countless hours in physical therapy to regain his function and is working hard toward his goal of walking independently again. Michael is candid about living life with GBS and how he manages to remain resilient on his journey.

Thank you, Michael, for sharing your story!
