    • Messi and the Sounders LIVE!
    • The tiny Caribbean island of Anguilla brought in $39 million from internet domain sales last year, accounting for almost one-quarter of its total revenues, per the BBC.
      • In the early internet days of the 1980s, Anguilla was awarded the country-specific website address of “.ai.”
      • Anguilla’s luck isn’t expected to run out anytime soon. According to the BBC, the number of .ai domain name registrations has more than doubled in the past year to 850,000 (there were fewer than 50,000 in 2020). In 2025, the island expects to bring in nearly $49 million from its .ai online real estate.
    • The Long Walk, a new Stephen King movie adaptation, held a screening this weekend in which viewers walked on treadmills—and if they got tired, they had to leave.
      • According to cast interviews, they filmed a scene a day and they were all walking approximately 25,000 to 30,000 steps a day.
    • NFL season is back!

Welcome to another episode of Yappin N Shxt!

    In today's episode:

    • Packing for a vacation.
    • Mark Zuckerberg recently offered 24-year-old Matt Deitke $250 million over four years to come work at Meta’s super intelligence lab, and he accepted.
      • AI recruits for the biggest tech companies have few peers when it comes to paychecks. The closest may be sports stars. In 2021, NBA legend Steph Curry finalized a four-year, $215 million contract extension. How did we get here? The likes of Meta, Microsoft, and Alphabet have huge market caps—and, as the New York Times observed, no salary caps.
    • A group of crypto bros looking to pump interest into their meme coin have taken responsibility for the recent rash of dildos thrown onto courts during WNBA games. Hopefully, the league can now keep these dildos out of their arenas. And the sex toys, too.
    • AOL quietly announced that it’s pulling the plug on dial-up internet
      • If your first reaction was “Dial-up still exists?”, then you’re not alone. After all, AOL has fallen a long way since it was the country’s biggest internet provider:
        • In 1999, AOL had more than 18 million subscribers.
        • In 2015, there were about two million AOL dial-up customers.
        • By 2021, that number was in the “low thousands,” a source told CNBC.
        • Dial-up persists in part because some rural areas don’t have access to affordable high-speed internet.
    • Spirit Airlines doubts it can stay in business much longer. The ultra-low-cost airline known for its bright yellow planes and bare bones flying experience has “substantial doubt” it can continue to operate over the next 12 months.
