  • The Secret 1955 Delirium Tremens Prison Experiment | Bat Country Alcoholism & Sobriety Podcast

    Buy the Just Crazy Enough To Work audiobook, the story of my descent into alcoholism, read by me: https://www.batcountry.co/product-page/audiobook-just-crazy-enough-to-work-stu-nugent

    =======

    In 1955, Dr. Harris Isbell published a medical paper entitled "An Experimental Study Of The Etiology of Rum Fits and Delirium Tremens."

    On the face of it, the report simply described an investigation into alcohol withdrawal. The findings still inform treatment for alcohol addiction today.

    But look beneath the surface, and you find a legacy of human experimentation, sinister medical institutions, and CIA money.

    Sounds like conspiracy theory nonsense, right? It isn't. And it's very scary.

    This episode of Bat Country is a bit of a change of pace from the norm, and I'll be returning to the normal, more personal style videos now. But this was so interesting I just HAD to talk about it.

    As always, good luck out there.
