• 107- Pressure, Pain & Recovery – Dr. Batson’s Story
    May 17 2025

Hi friends! I'm so excited to share this powerful conversation with you. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Alicia Batson, a double-boarded MD in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry, who also happens to have walked her own 10-year journey through chronic pain. Her story is incredibly validating and encouraging for those of us walking the mind-body healing path. Despite all of her medical training, Dr. Batson missed the mind-body connection for years—until she discovered the role her brain was playing in creating and maintaining her symptoms. In this interview, she opens up about what it took to recover and how rewiring her nervous system through emotional work, brain retraining, and lifestyle changes gave her back her life. Dr. Batson now helps others discern whether their symptoms might be brain-based and gives clear, medically-informed direction for those seeking that elusive “green light” to begin mind-body work. She’s currently taking new patients, and I’ll link all of her info in the show notes below. If you’re in the thick of chronic symptoms and wondering if this approach is right for you, I hope this conversation encourages you that healing is possible — and it might just be closer than you think. 💛 00:00 – Introduction to Dr. Alicia Batson and the concept of brain-generated chronic symptoms 03:33 – Alicia shares her personal 10-year journey with unexplained chronic pain 06:16 – The onset of symptoms at a stressful job, including arm weakness and elbow pain 10:26 – Despite being double-boarded, Alicia had no training in mind-body medicine 14:22 – Diagnosed with repetitive strain injury; symptoms worsened despite medical care 24:54 – The breakthrough moment: realizing the pain was coming from her brain 26:28 – Hope begins: connecting with Dr. Howard Schubiner and starting true recovery 45:04 – Alicia completes a triathlon as a test of her healing — no pain returns 53:17 – The deepest healing came from changing her personality traits (perfectionism, fear, people-pleasing) 57:46 – Final encouragement: don’t give up — your healing could be right around the corner Her info: Current: Talkiatry.com App she cofounded: OvidDx Video Program: Take Back Your LIfe Private Practice: Center for Treatment of Psychophysiologic Disorders, Nashville, TN My info: Website: thoughtbythoughthealing.com Email: thoughtbythoughthealing@gmail.com #tms #mindbodyconnection #mindbodysoul #mindbodyspirit #fightorflight #nervoussystem #youcanheal #thoughtbythoughthealing #sarno #unlearnyourpain #chronicpain #fibromyalgia #footpain #centralsensitization #sibo #ibs #carpaltunnel #chronicillness #chronicfatigue #insomnia #thewayout #somatictracking #somatictherapy #painfreeyou #neuroplasticpain #neuralcircuitpain #ppda

If this story of healing inspires you, like or share this video so that others can know there is hope for healing! Known as Forest online, my guest today shares his story of healing from what was diagnosed as repetive strain injury or over-use injury. He had a full recovery as he understood the symptoms were just his brain. From there, he went on to found TMS Wiki - a website that has provides free resources for those healing from neuroplastic symptoms.https://www.tmswiki.org/forum/forums/... Here is a bit about him: After an 18-year battle with neuroplastic symptoms attributed to 'repetitive strain injuries,' Rob, known as Forest online, fully recovered by employing a mind-body approach. Inspired by his recovery, he founded TMSWiki.org, the largest peer-driven resource dedicated to educating the public about neuroplastic symptoms. Rob created the 'Thank You, Dr. Sarno' tribute book, which was featured in Dr. Sarno’s New York Times obituary. He also provided technical support to Alan Gordon in developing a free 21-day recovery program, donated to the wiki during fundraising for the Boulder Back Pain Study. Rob co-founded and has served as Vice President of the Association for the Treatment of Neuroplastic Disorders (ATNS) since its inception, reflecting his ongoing commitment to raising awareness and support for mind-body healing. Professionally, Rob runs discussion sections for adult learners pursuing their master's degrees in finance and management, with a specialization in health economics and decision-making. In this episode Jen Loeffler and I talk about how to lay aside the weights… so that we can run the race before us. We discuss what the weights might be in terms of burdens & pressures that are half truths & distortions that end being our core beliefs. We walk through Hebrews 12:1-3 unpacking the pure gold that is here, including how Paul unpacks the mind body connection and how these burdens can cause weariness, and weakness - chronic fatigue.

  • 101 - Train Your Brain To Reduce Pain - I am a Guest on Nutrition W/ Love
    Jun 1 2024

We are back to the basics in this episode where I am a guest on Clare Backhouse's podcast talking about Pain Neuroscience Education. This is a great start for those just starting the journey of understanding pain neuroscience! In this episode, I get to be a guest on Clare Backhouse Podcast called "Nutrition With Love". Here's what she says about the episode...

This episode may shock you: Pain is not always what we think it is. We're used to the idea that pain sensations always accurately register physical disease of injury. But much research has found that some kinds of pain are actually alleviated by working on the brain, not the body.

  • 100 - Grief, Parenting & Chronic Pain - A Physical Therapist Recovery from TMS
    May 11 2024

Bobby Geevarughese is a physical therapist specializing in TMS and MindBody Syndrome. Thank God, we need more of these!

In this episode we talk about many things including how grief and parenting responsibility can cause pain. For him, the pain came in the form of chronic hip pain that was healed as he worked through those stressors.

We also discussed the importance of movement and how important that is. For some of you on the fence, and still afraid to move, it can be helpful to get the green light from a PT, such as him!

And we also discuss a few biblical misconceptions that can be important to work through in your healing.

Check out his website - found here. https://www.painrehabpt.com/
