In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I talk about one of the most important skills you can develop on your weight loss and fitness journey, pacing yourself. Burnout is real. Whether it’s physical from pushing too hard in your workouts or mental from grinding day after day, many of us reach the point where we’re forcing ourselves forward when our body and mind are telling us to slow down.

Learning to set a sustainable pace matters. You’ve likely been through enough cycles of overdoing it to know when the warning signs show up. The key is listening to those signs. If you feel like you might be pushing too hard, chances are you are. The best move in that moment is to step back, take a break, and trust yourself to know when to return.

This approach is very different from the “push harder” message we often hear in fitness. Social media might glorify the grind, but in real life, showing up consistently for the long haul is what truly matters. The goal is not perfection, it’s building a forever active lifestyle where you can confidently show up for your next workout, your next meal, and your next choice.

When you follow your intuition and respect your limits, you prevent burnout and set yourself up for sustainable success. Pace really does matter, and the sooner you embrace it, the stronger and steadier your journey will become.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m talking about trigger foods and how to finally take back control from them. Most of us have certain foods that we say we can’t be around or keep in the house. They’ve been labeled as “bad foods,” and the second we eat them we feel out of control. That tug of war leads to guilt, frustration, and the cycle of banning those foods until the next time we give in.

But what if instead of avoiding those foods, you learned how to handle them? My approach is simple, but it works. I want you to take the biggest trigger food you have and eat it every single day. Not in secret, not in shame, but as a deliberate choice. Over time, the emotional pull weakens, and you’re left with the ability to choose that food without it controlling you.

Along with this practice, I encourage you to keep some structure in place. Eat your regular meals with produce at each one, drink water consistently, and designate a specific “trigger time” where you practice eating that food. This way, you’ll not only build confidence around eating but also remind yourself that you’re still following habits that support your long-term goals.

This is about ending the mental tug of war. Instead of letting overeating reinforce the belief that you can’t control yourself, you’ll flip the script. By bringing the food into your life intentionally, you’ll retrain your mindset to see that it’s just food. You can eat it, enjoy it, and move on without guilt.

If you’re ready to reinforce this inside/out approach daily, you can start with this podcast and my daily email. And if you want more personalized guidance, join The YLF Experience, my hybrid coaching program that combines the best of one-on-one and group coaching while filling in the gaps that most programs miss.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I share why the inside/out approach is the true foundation for lasting fitness and weight loss. What you see on social media are workouts, eating plans, and before-and-after transformations. What you don’t see is the mindset behind those results. For many, even people who look like they have the “ideal” body, there is a constant battle going on inside.

That’s why the way you approach this matters. If your journey is full of guilt and anxiety, if you’re forcing yourself to do things you don’t enjoy, then it’s time to change your approach. You can’t convince yourself to like something you hate. But you can choose to appreciate yourself at every stage, build on your preferences, and create a foundation that you actually want to live with.

This means building routines around foods you enjoy, exercises that make you feel strong, and habits you want to sustain. The best plan for you is the one you like enough to do consistently. From there, you can explore new things, but it all starts with a foundation built on self-connection and preference. That is what makes this process sustainable.

If you want to work at your own pace, start with this podcast and my daily action-based email. And if you’re ready for more guidance, join The YLF Experience, my hybrid coaching program designed to fill the gaps between one-on-one and group coaching. It’s built to be individualized, structured, and sustainable for you.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I dive into one of the most important parts of any fitness journey, the story you tell yourself. For many of us, that story has been shaped by years or even decades of ups and downs. Maybe you’ve told yourself you need to be more disciplined, or maybe you’ve convinced yourself that you already are. But if your weight loss journey has felt like a cycle of frustration, then it’s time to rewrite that story.

You’ve gained knowledge and skills along the way, from trying different eating plans to learning what forms of exercise work best for you. Those experiences have value, and they can become the foundation of a new narrative. The inside/out approach is about more than workouts or meals, it’s about reinforcing the belief that you are capable, confident, and worthy right now.

I’ll also share how you can apply this mindset in practical ways, from subscribing to The Daily Podcast for daily reflection, to joining my daily action-based email, and even stepping into The YLF Experience coaching program if you’re ready for more structure and guidance. No matter where you are in your journey, you have the ability to reshape the way you see yourself, and it all starts with the story you choose to believe.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I talk about building calmness and consistency into your fitness routine by setting minimum daily actions. So often we’re told progress comes only from pushing outside of our comfort zone, but real lasting success happens when we create a foundation of showing up daily, setting manageable goals, and stacking wins week after week.

I explain how to avoid the mental tug of war that so many people face when trying to hit their health and fitness goals. Instead of battling yourself every time you don’t feel like working out, set your expectations slightly below your usual performance so you always have a reachable starting point. For example, if your workouts are usually thirty minutes, set your minimum at twenty. Once you start, you’ll often find yourself going longer, but even on the hardest days, you still walk away with a win.

This approach applies beyond fitness too. By setting goals you can consistently exceed, you reframe your mindset, quiet the inner chatter, and prove to yourself that you can trust your ability to follow through. That kind of calm, deliberate pace is what makes the inside/out approach so powerful.

I also share how you can reinforce this message daily through this podcast and the Your Level Fitness daily email. And if you want more guidance, I explain how The YLF Experience bridges the gap between one-on-one coaching and group coaching to give you personalized support at an affordable price.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I talk about what it really means to take an inside/out approach to health and fitness and why it’s so different from what the industry has told us for decades. The truth is, the fitness industry has made billions by marketing against our insecurities, convincing us that changing how we look is the only way to feel good about ourselves. But lasting fulfillment doesn’t come from chasing a number on the scale or trying to keep losing more and more. It comes from building a foundation around what you enjoy and reinforcing that daily.

I also share why community is such a crucial part of this process. The YLF Community is made up of anyone who chooses to live this way and support others doing the same. You don’t have to buy anything to belong here. You don’t need a service or a t-shirt to prove you’re part of the message. You’re already part of it by showing up, sharing, and reinforcing the belief that we are enough as we are.

This is about making the inside/out approach accessible to everyone. That’s why I provide free resources like this podcast and the daily email, which you can use in just ten minutes a day to build the structure you need. And if you want more guidance, The YLF Experience brings together the best parts of one-on-one coaching and group support in one program.

At the end of the day, we’re going to be the change. The industry wants to divide us and keep us insecure. I want to unite us and help you build something that lasts for decades. That starts with reinforcing this message in your own life and sharing it with others who need to hear it.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I talk about why taking an inside/out approach to health and fitness changes everything. For decades the fitness industry has marketed against our insecurities, telling us that the only way to feel good inside is to change how we look outside. The truth is, lasting change comes from connecting with yourself first and building habits around your preferences.

This approach is not about going full speed all the time. It is about creating a calm, deliberate pace where you can consistently make choices that align with who you are and what you want. Think of it like cruise control on a road trip. You are still moving forward, still making stops and decisions along the way, but you are doing it without stress or guilt. That balance allows you to enjoy the process while continuing to grow.

I also share why reinforcing this mindset daily is so important. Whether through this podcast, the daily email, or the YLF Experience coaching program, these resources give you structure and support so you can keep applying the inside/out philosophy every day.

If you are ready to stop chasing fitness fads and start building something sustainable, this episode is a great place to begin.

In this short but powerful episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I share a simple strategy that has helped countless clients cut through the noise of the fitness and weight loss industry. When you feel overwhelmed, simplify. Ask yourself, right now, what am I willing and able to do? Then make that decision, take action, and move on to the next step.

This is the essence of the inside/out approach. It’s about stripping away the pressure of perfection and bringing your focus back to manageable, consistent choices. Even small steps add up when they’re rooted in your preferences and your pace.

I’d love to hear how you can apply this to your own journey. Your situation is unique, and the details matter. Email me your thoughts at daryl@yourlevelfitness.com.
