  • Episode 14 - Skyscraper
    Jul 22 2025
This week on The PM Entertainment Podcast, we ascend to dangerous new heights with 1996’s Skyscraper — the only Die Hard knockoff brave (or bonkers) enough to cast Anna Nicole Smith as your last line of defense against international terrorists in a downtown L.A. high-rise.

Helicopter pilot. Fashion icon. 90s phenomenon. Action star? Anna Nicole takes the controls as PM goes full high-gloss chaos with rooftop gunfights, shadowy conspiracies, and just enough awkward slow-mo to make John Woo weep.

Directed by Raymond Martino, and written by William Applegate Jr. and Joseph John Barmettler, this PM curio also stars Richard Steinmetz, Branimir Cikatić, Calvin Levels, Deron McBee, Jonathan Fuller, and Lee de Broux — and somehow gets even weirder than you remember.

Joining us for this vertigo-inducing ride are the action-loving brothers Brett & Ty Bargar from ComeuppanceReviews.net, who help us break down:
    • Anna Nicole’s one-of-a-kind action hero energy
    • PM’s spin on the Die Hard formula
    • Gratuitous nudity vs. gratuitous explosions
    • And whether Skyscraper truly earns its place in the PM hall of WTF
So strap in, grab your headset, and prepare for a 90s VHS fever dream that’s all cleavage, carnage, and corporate espionage!

  • Episode 13 - To Be The Best
    Jul 11 2025
    PM goes full-contact in Vegas!

This week on The PM Entertainment Podcast, we’re diving into To Be the Best (1993), a high-kicking, neon-drenched tournament brawler that’s part family drama, part underdog sports flick, and all PM-style action.

When a ruthless gambler threatens to rig the World Kickboxing Championship and steals our hero's woman, it’s up to Michael Worth as Eric Kulhane — along with his alcoholic, coach father (Martin Kove) and his punchy brother (Phillip Troy Linger) — to fight for honor, redemption, and justice in and out of the ring.

Directed by Joseph Merhi, with hard-hitting fight choreography from Art Camacho and beautiful, lush camerawork from Rick Pepin, this one brings training montages, bowling montages, love montages - so many montages - Vegas sleaze, dumb and doughy mafiosos, flying kicks, and helicopter explosions together in glorious 90s fashion.

We’re joined this episode by Chris Kacvinsky, action movie expert from the Bulletproof Action website, blog and podcast, to break down:

Tournament movies as a PM subgenre
The gambling plot meets family melodrama
    The many montages
And the film’s place in PM's output

PLUS — we sit down with Michael Worth himself to talk about the making of the film, working with Merhi and Camacho, and what it was like kicking and acting his way through one of PM’s most fight filled entries.

  • Episode 12 - Guardian Angel
    Jun 17 2025
It's scorpion kicks, exploding speedboats, equestrian excitement, hitmen who hate meat platters and maid-brawling madness as The PM Entertainment Podcast dives fists-first into Guardian Angel, the 1994 action-packed thrill ride that puts the unstoppable Cynthia Rothrock front and center as a no-nonsense bodyguard caught in a web of revenge, relentless action and fantastic hair!

Directed by Richard W. Munchkin and written by PM MVP Jacobsen Hart, Guardian Angel delivers everything you’d expect from peak PM: fight scenes in fancy houses, bar brawls, flaming crotches, Beetlejuice as a Police Chief and a suspicious number of maid beatdowns.

Joining us once again is friend of the show, author, blogger, and direct-to-video legend Matt Poirier from The Direct to Video Connoisseur, and we dive deep into:

💥 The film’s wide range of creative action set pieces
🧹 Just who wins in a game of ping-pong between a smarmy millionnaire and a bikini babe? (or is the answer - the audience!)
🥋 The brilliant fight choreography of Art Camacho
🎬 Give Stunt Coordinator Cole S. McKay his full PM Entertainment spotlight

AND — we’re not done yet — it’s a triple threat of interviews:
🔥 Cynthia Rothrock herself shares behind-the-scenes stories from Guardian Angel and talks about her new film, Black Creek, available everywhere for preorder now!
🎥 Director Richard W. Munchkin joins us for an inside look at filming action, the PM way
    and
🎞️ Rick Pepin, producer and second unit cameraman, drops in with stories from the stunning final sea-based set piece.

It’s one of our most jam-packed episodes ever and a can't-miss episode for fans of Cynthia, PM, and explosive 90s action cinema!
