  • Ep. 12 Slavery, Freedom and the Gospel Truth
    Aug 25 2025

Episode 12: Slavery, Freedom, and the Gospel Truth

In this episode of The Old Gray Moose: Short Devotions for the Wilderness Journey, we reflect on the painful reality of slavery—both in history and in the present—and the hope we find in Christ who came to set the captives free.

As propaganda and distorted teachings creep into classrooms and public life, it is more important than ever to hold fast to the Gospel truth that all people are created in God’s image and called beloved. Together we pray for our children, our schools, and those entrusted to teach them, asking God to raise up voices of truth and love.

Through Scripture and prayer, we find courage to stand against falsehood and cling to the freedom Christ gives.

    Three key takeaways:

    1. The Gospel dismantles lies that devalue human life and proclaims freedom for all.

    2. Parents, grandparents, guardians, and Sunday School teachers are vital bearers of truth to children.

    3. Christ’s love calls us to resist distortion and to live as people of light.

Action Invitation: Pray this week for children, teachers, and mentors—that they may be strengthened to share God’s truth in love.

  • Ep. 11 Lifted Up: Christ's Freedom for the Bent Down
    Aug 22 2025

Episode 10: Lifted Up: Christ’s Freedom for the BentDown

In Luke 13:10–17, Jesus sees a woman bent down for eighteenyears and sets her free to stand tall again. This short devotion explores how Christ still lifts us today—body, mind, and spirit—and calls us to join Him in lifting others.

    Takeaways

    1. Jesus meets us in the places where we feel bent down, by worry, illness, injustice, or despair and offers freedom.

    2. God's kingdom cannot be shaken, and His consuming fire burns away all that binds and oppresses.

    3. To follow Christ is to stand tall in His love and to help others rise in dignity.

    🌿 Action Invitation

This week, offer one act of compassion or advocacy for someone “bent down”—a word of encouragement, a prayer, or a small act of justice that helps them stand a little taller.

  • Ep. 10 Fire on the Earth: Choosing Whom You Stand With
    Aug 11 2025

Ep. 10 Fire on the Earth: Choosing Whom You Will Stand With
If the world feels on fire, what if that could be good news? Jesus says He came to bring fire—not to scorch us, but to refine us (Luke 12:49–56). In a few quiet minutes, we name what God’s fire burns away—control, unforgiveness, fear, prejudice—and how to stand with Christ’s justice and mercy (Psalm 82). Come for a clear next step, a short prayer, and courage for the week.

    Three Gentle Takeaways

    • A simple daily practice of surrender you can start today.

    • What God’s refining fire removes—and what it ignites.

    • How to choose your stand with Jesus when lines are blurry.
