  • Missouri Weather 3/8 Midday - 31° Above Normal
    Mar 8 2026
Good afternoon. Missouri. I'm Matt Mullins. Spring is showing off today. Step outside right now and you're basking in 52 degrees under pure sunshine. High pressure sliding east is pumping in that southwest wind. And it's bringing the warmth. Today's a stunner. Clear skies statewide with highs climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s. Kansas City hits 68 degrees. St. Louis and Columbia reach 66. Springfield tops out at 67. Southwest winds gust to 23 miles an hour, so it'll feel breezy but pleasant — perfect weather for a Sunday stroll if you ask me. Tonight stays mild. Clear skies hold with lows dropping to the mid to upper 40s. South winds ease to around 10 miles an hour. Monday's the big show. Sunshine continues as temperatures soar into the upper 70s statewide. Kansas City could challenge the 77-degree record from 2021. St. Louis pushes 77. Springfield climbs to 79. Southwest winds gust to 23 miles an hour again. That's 31 degrees above normal for early March — Then Tuesday everything changes. We're tracking a storm system with multiple threats. Highs reach the low 80s before storms fire up. The setup includes severe weather potential — large hail, damaging winds. And tornadoes all possible Tuesday afternoon into evening. Eastern Missouri faces the highest risk. Heavy rainfall is also likely, with storm totals of 1 to 2 inches and locally higher amounts where storms train. Flooding becomes a concern Tuesday night into Wednesday. Wednesday the cold front sweeps through. Rain ends by evening. Highs drop to the low to mid 50s behind the front. The rest of the week rebounds nicely. Thursday through Saturday brings sunshine and highs in the upper 50s to low 70s. One quick note — spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour at 2 A.M. See you this evening.

  • Missouri Weather 3/8 Morning - 31° Above Normal
    Mar 8 2026
Good morning. Missouri. I'm Michael Nally. Step outside right now and you'll feel that crisp bite — mid-30s after yesterday's rain, with some patchy fog clinging to the river valleys west of Highway 65. But here's the thing. That chill won't last. Sunshine takes over as high pressure slides east. Southwest winds kick in, pushing temperatures into the upper 60s statewide. Springfield hits 67 degrees. St. Louis climbs to 66. Kansas City reaches 68. The kind of day that reminds you spring is just around the corner. And speaking of that — don't forget to spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour. Tonight stays mild under clear skies. Lows drop to the mid-40s to around 50 degrees, with a gentle south breeze keeping things comfortable. Monday cranks up the heat. We're talking upper 70s to near 80 degrees — potentially challenging records set back in the 1980s. That's about 31 degrees above normal for early March. Perfect weather for getting outside if you ask me. But here's where things get interesting. Tuesday brings a major pattern shift. A strong storm system barrels in from the southwest, pulling Gulf moisture northward. Highs soar into the low 80s before the fireworks begin. Widespread thunderstorms develop Tuesday afternoon and evening — damaging winds, large hail. And a few tornadoes are all possible. Heavy rain is likely, with most areas picking up over an inch. The NWS has issued a Slight Risk for severe storms across eastern Missouri. The cold front sweeps through Wednesday morning, dropping temperatures back to the 50s and ending the rain. Thursday through Saturday stays dry with highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s. Stay weather-aware Tuesday. See you this afternoon.

  • Missouri Weather 3/7 Evening - Springtime Flood Dance
    Mar 8 2026
Good evening. Missouri. I'm Michael Nally. In Step outside you’ll feel it immediately, that heavy, damp chill clinging to the air after yesterday's rain. We picked up about a third of an inch statewide. And the clouds are definitely slow to clear this morning. But don’t let the gray skies fool you—this is just the calm before a serious warmup. We’re shaking off that cold front that swept through last night. Southwest Missouri woke up to patchy fog and lows in the mid-30s. Head west and you’re sitting at 39 degrees, though a breeze makes it feel closer to 34. Over in Eastern Missouri, you’re at 38 degrees under partly cloudy skies. That fog in the southwest should burn off by late morning, leaving us with a mostly dry, increasingly sunny day. Clear skies take over tonight. Lows dip to 39 in Western Missouri, 38 in the East. And 35 in the Southwest. But here’s the twist—those numbers are actually *rising* overnight in some spots. Yes, you heard that right: temperatures will climb a few degrees after midnight as warm air starts rushing in. The sun takes center stage Sunday. Highs jump to 69 in the west, 68 in the southwest. And 66 in the east. That’s running 33 degrees above normal for early March. Winds pick up too—gusts to 23 miles an hour in Western Missouri by afternoon. Perfect day for a walk if you ask me. Hold onto your hats, because Monday and Tuesday bring *summer-like* heat. We’re talking highs in the upper 70s to near 80—yes, in *March*. Records could fall, especially in St. Louis and Columbia. But with that warmth comes trouble: strong to severe thunderstorms roll in Tuesday, along with flooding concerns. The Storm Prediction Center already has us in a slight risk zone for severe weather, with hail and damaging winds possible. Rainfall totals could hit 1 to 2 inches in spots, which is the last thing our soggy ground needs. A cold front sweeps through Wednesday, dropping highs back to the 50s. But we rebound quickly—by Friday, we’re back in the 60s under partly sunny skies. And here’s a fun note: we’re gaining 2 minutes and 30 seconds of daylight every day now. Spring equinox is just 13 days away! Farther north in Aroostook County, there’s a Flood Warning in effect. The Roubidoux Creek is running high, so avoid those low-lying roads today. See you tomorrow.
