About this listen

Good morning. Missouri. I'm Aaron Jolly. That damp chill you felt this morning? That was the cold front knocking on the door. Western Missouri woke up to a crisp 40 degrees, but those northwest winds at 12 miles an hour make it feel like 33. Meanwhile. Eastern Missouri is hanging onto a muggy 60 degrees. But not for long. Rain clears out by 10 A.M. and watch the thermometer crash. You'll go from 67 degrees at midday down to 56 by the afternoon. That's a 33 degrees-degree drop in a few hours, so pack layers if you're east of I-44. Down in southwest Missouri, the story is a little different. A slight chance of rain lingers until 9 A.M., but skies clear quickly. Highs top out at 56, then fall overnight to 35. Those brisk northwest winds will make it feel even cooler. Classic Ozarks weather — one minute you need a light jacket, the next you're wishing for the heavy coat. Statewide tonight, we dry out. Western Missouri drops to 38 degrees under clear skies, while Eastern Missouri falls to 40. Down south, you'll hit 35. That's frost territory for sensitive plants, so cover them up. Sunday brings sunshine with a vengeance. Western Missouri jumps to 66 degrees — 33 degrees above normal for early March. Eastern Missouri matches at 67. And southwest Missouri climbs to 68. Winds shift to the southwest, gusting to 22 miles an hour. Perfect weather for drying out the yard or flying a kite. But keep your eyes on Tuesday. A storm system is looming with an a chance of thunderstorms, some possibly severe. Until then, though. Here comes a wild ride. Monday nears 80 degrees — that's 33 degrees above normal. Then Wednesday crashes back to reality, with highs dropping 33 degrees overnight. In One quick heads-up, if you're near the St. Francis River or down in the Bootheel, keep an eye on the water. We've got Flood Warnings and a Flash Flood Warning in effect until 12:45 P.M. For Butler. Carter. And Wayne counties. See you tomorrow. See you this afternoon.
