About this listen

Good morning. Missouri. I'm Michael Nally. Step outside right now and you'll feel that crisp bite — mid-30s after yesterday's rain, with some patchy fog clinging to the river valleys west of Highway 65. But here's the thing. That chill won't last. Sunshine takes over as high pressure slides east. Southwest winds kick in, pushing temperatures into the upper 60s statewide. Springfield hits 67 degrees. St. Louis climbs to 66. Kansas City reaches 68. The kind of day that reminds you spring is just around the corner. And speaking of that — don't forget to spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour. Tonight stays mild under clear skies. Lows drop to the mid-40s to around 50 degrees, with a gentle south breeze keeping things comfortable. Monday cranks up the heat. We're talking upper 70s to near 80 degrees — potentially challenging records set back in the 1980s. That's about 31 degrees above normal for early March. Perfect weather for getting outside if you ask me. But here's where things get interesting. Tuesday brings a major pattern shift. A strong storm system barrels in from the southwest, pulling Gulf moisture northward. Highs soar into the low 80s before the fireworks begin. Widespread thunderstorms develop Tuesday afternoon and evening — damaging winds, large hail. And a few tornadoes are all possible. Heavy rain is likely, with most areas picking up over an inch. The NWS has issued a Slight Risk for severe storms across eastern Missouri. The cold front sweeps through Wednesday morning, dropping temperatures back to the 50s and ending the rain. Thursday through Saturday stays dry with highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s. Stay weather-aware Tuesday. See you this afternoon.
