A four day search for the so called Nannup tiger ? in South west Western Australia/ Mainland Australia in May 2024.

The remains of a Tasmanian tiger that was located in Western Australia and originally dated 0-500 years old was examined in 1997 and dated at 4000 plus years old.
The most detailed alleged Tasmanian tiger/Thylacine sighting i have received from Western Australia was when i was contacted a decade ago by a retired South Australian /Adelaide couple who years earlier claimed a sighting when they were camped out three hours drive north of Perth at coastal kalbarri. They had at dusk a BBQ going and claimed the striped animal walked up to them after smelling the BBQ they surmised. It then after pausing went quickly back into the scrub.

Two words that apply to predator searching. Where and How.

The headless kangaroos allegedly being found for decades in the South West and attributed to Thylacine predation may be explained by the crayfish industry locally using kangaroo heads from shooters and collected from road kill themselves as bait for the crayfish.

Is the mystery predator in this catchment not a Tasmanian tiger?

Like the rest of Australia the incompetent monopoly state government conservation department dominates and in Western Australia its locally known as the Department of Biodiversity and Attractions.
Freedom of information requests i have taken out with all state governments of Australia since 1995 have revealed alleged sightings in all states of puma coloured and panther coloured catlike creatures being seen.In Fact the QLD NAT PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT TRIED TO TRAP A PANTHER IN THE MID 1990s at Mareeba in far north queensland.Another request i took out revealed to the world the Blue Mountains Black panther and the New South Wales state governments attempt to locate these creatures in 1999.

Are they Introduced puma/leopards or jaguarundis etc?

Or are they one of Genus: Thylacoleo (Thylacopardus) – Australia's marsupial lions, that lived from about 2 million years ago, during the Late Pliocene Epoch and became extinct about 40,000 years ago, during the Late Pleistocene Epoch.

    Three species are known:

Thylacoleo carnifex The holotype cranium was collected from Lake Colongulac in 1843 by pastoralist William Adeney. A partial rostrum collected by Adeney in 1876 from the same locality would later be found to belong to the same individual.[2]
Thylacoleo crassidentatus lived during the Pliocene, around 5 million years ago, and was about the size of a large dog. Its fossils have been found in southeastern Queensland.[3][4]
Thylacoleo hilli lived during the Pliocene and was half the size of T. crassidentatus. It is the oldest member of the genus.[5]

Or one of the five sub-species species of the marsupial Wakeleo that once existed.

    Or an unclassified species?

    Are they large feral cats?
