Our guest today is Prof. Dr. Wolfang Kübler. He is head of the Institute of Physiology at Charité in Berlin.

Prof. Kübler studied medicine at Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. His research and academic qualification brought him to Colombia University in New York and the University of Toronto in Canada. In Toronto he was founding director of the Critical Illness and Injury Research Centre at St Michaels Hospital before moved to Berlin. He is active in various national and international professional societies and research associations and has received numerous awards. Since 2016 Wolfgang Kübler is head of the Institute of Physiology at Charité.

Our guest today is Prof. Dr. Julien Weiss. He is head of the department of aerodynamics at the institute of aeronautics and astronautics at TU Berlin.

His main teaching and research activities are in the fields of flow physics and control, applied aerodynamics and aerodynamic measurement technology.

Julien Weiss studied engineering in Stuttgart and then went on to the École Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d'Aérotechnique, France for a M.Sc.

In addition to many tips for the postdoc period, the interview also covers the uncertainties on the way to a professorship and the need to always have a plan B.

Our guest today is Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan. She is a Professor of Social Sciences at the Humboldt-University in Berlin where she heads the department of integration studies and social policy at the Berlin Institute on Integration and Migration (BIM). She is Head of the German Center for Integration and Migration (DeZIM) a Ministry-funded research institute that provides empirical analysis on migration and integration and monitors ‘Racist Realities’ for the German government.

Foroutans research focuses on countries of immigration, their changing identities and attitudes towards minorities as well as the impact of pluralization on norms and values.

In addition to many tips for the postdoc period, the interview also covers the advantages of paper-based dissertations, the necessity of stays abroad and the development of academic networks.

Our guest today ist Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Bäumer, European specialist in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology, a veterinarian and researcher in the field of veterinary pharmacology and toxicology. He completed his doctorate at the veterinary university in Hannover, held an endowed professorship in Hannover and was associate professor in the U.S. at North Carolina State University. Since 2017 he is professor and managing director at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Department of Veterinary Medicine at Freie Universität Berlin.

In addition to many tips for the postdoctoral period, the interview also covers a plan B or C if the path to a professorship doesn't work out, and how to build academic networks.

Unser heutiger Gast ist Prof. Dr. Philipp Adelhelm, Professor für Physikalische Chemie an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und Leiter der Forschungsgruppe “Operando battery analysis” des Helmholtz-Zentrums Berlin und HU Berlin.

Nach seinem Studium der Materialwissenschaften an der Universität Stuttgart promovierte in Physikalischer Chemie an der an der Universität Potsdam und dem Max-Planck-Institut für Kolloid- und Grenzflächenforschung zum Thema "Novel carbon materials with hierarchical porosity: templating strategies and advanced characterization”.

Nach Stationen über der Universität Utrecht, der Justus-Liebig-Universität in Giessen und der Friedrich-Schiller Universität in Jena, erreichte er seine heutige Position als Hochschullehrer an der HU Berlin mit dem Schwerpunkt der Batterieforschung.

Seit 2020 ist er auch Leiter der gemeinsamen Forschungsgruppe “Operando battery analysis” der HU Berlin und dem Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.

Im Interview geht es neben vielen Tipps für die Postdoczeit auch um den Unterschied der Arbeitsweisen an einer Universität und einem außeruniversitären Forschungszentrum und der Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Beruf.

Unser heutiger Gast ist Prof. Dr. Tonio Sebastian Richter, Professor für Ägyptologie mit dem Schwerpunkt Koptologie am Ägyptologischen Seminar der Freien Universität Berlin.

Nach seinem Studium der Evangelischen Theologie an den Kirchlichen Hochschulen Leipzig und Naumburg studierte er Ägyptologie und der Religionsgeschichte an der Universität Leipzig sowie koptische Studien an der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg.

Er promovierte zum Thema “Rechtssemantik und forensische Rhetorik. Untersuchungen zu Wortschatz, Grammatik und Stil der Sprache koptischer Rechtsurkunden”. und habilitierte zum Thema “Pacht nach koptischen Quellen. Beiträge zur Rechts-, Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte des byzantinischen und früharabischen Ägypten” an der Universität Leipzig.

Seit 2014 ist Professor für Ägyptologie mit dem Schwerpunkt Koptologie, Ägyptologisches Seminar der FU Berlin und Akademieprofessor der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften.

Im Interview wird ein Weg zur Professur in einem eher kleinen Fach mit seinen speziellen Herausforderungen beschrieben.

Unser heutiger Gast ist Prof. Dr. Axel Gelfert, Professor für Theoretische Philosophie an der Technischen Universität Berlin.

Nach seinem Studium der Physik an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und der University of Oxford mit dem Abschluss als Diplom-Physiker, studierte er History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine an der University of Cambridge mit dem Masterabschluss. Danach folgte das Promotionsstudium am Department of History and Philosophy of Science der University of Cambridge, mit dem Abschluss als Ph.D.. Es folgten Postdoc-Aufenthalte in Singapur, Budapest und der University of Edinburgh.

Seit 2017 leitet Prof. Gelfert das Fachgebiet Theoretische Philosophie am Institut für Philosophie, Literatur-, Wissenschafts- und Technikgeschichte der TU Berlin.

Theoretische Philosophie bezeichnet den Teilbereich der Philosophie, der sich aus den Disziplinen Erkenntnistheorie, Wissenschaftstheorie, Philosophie des Geistes, Sprachphilosophie, Philosophie der Mathematik, Logik und Ontologie/Metaphysik zusammensetzt.

Im Interview geht es neben vielen Tipps für die Postdoczeit auch darum, seine wissenschaftliche Aktivitäten nicht auf ein zu eng begrenztes Themenspektrum zu konzentrieren und die Notwendigkeit auch einen Plan B oder C zu erwägen.

Unser heutiger Gast ist Prof. Dr. Gertraud Stadler, Professorin für geschlechtersensible Präventionsforschung an der Carité in Berlin.

Nach ihrem Studium der Psychologie an der Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt arbeitete Gertraud Stadler an der Universität Hamburg, wo sie 2006 zum Thema Selbstregulation des Gesundheitsverhaltens in Zusammenarbeit mit einer großen Krankenkasse promovierte. Es folgten verschiedene Positionen an der Columbia University in New York, zunächst in der Psychologie und später im Department of Sociomedical Sciences an der Mailman School of Public Health. Von 2015 bis 2019 war Frau Stadler zudem Senior Lecturer für Gesundheitspsychologie in der School of Medicine an der University of Aberdeen in Schottland, seit 2019 ist sie dort als Honorary Senior Lecturer tätig.

Heute vertritt sie die Professur für geschlechtersensible Präventionsforschung an der Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Ihr zentrales Interesse gilt personalisierten Präventionsinterventionen und der Frage, wie Einzelpersonen und Paare ihr Alltagsverhalten ändern können, um ein Leben lang gesund zu bleiben und einen besseren Umgang mit Krankheiten zu finden.

Im Interview geht es neben vielen Tipps für die Postdoczeit um Hindernisse für Frauen in der Wissenschaft, den Sinn, Bewerbungen zu schreiben auch wenn erwartet, dass man die Stelle nicht bekommt und den Plan B, für den Fall, dass der Weg doch nicht zur Professur führt.
