    Our guest today is Prof. Dr. Wolfang Kübler. He is head of the Institute of Physiology at Charité in Berlin.

    Prof. Kübler studied medicine at Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. His research and academic qualification brought him to Colombia University in New York and the University of Toronto in Canada. In Toronto he was founding director of the Critical Illness and Injury Research Centre at St Michaels Hospital before moved to Berlin. He is active in various national and international professional societies and research associations and has received numerous awards. Since 2016 Wolfgang Kübler is head of the Institute of Physiology at Charité.

    Our guest today is Prof. Dr. Julien Weiss. He is head of the department of aerodynamics at the institute of aeronautics and astronautics at TU Berlin.

    His main teaching and research activities are in the fields of flow physics and control, applied aerodynamics and aerodynamic measurement technology.

    Julien Weiss studied engineering in Stuttgart and then went on to the École Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d'Aérotechnique, France for a M.Sc.

    In addition to many tips for the postdoc period, the interview also covers the uncertainties on the way to a professorship and the need to always have a plan B.

    Our guest today is Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan. She is a Professor of Social Sciences at the Humboldt-University in Berlin where she heads the department of integration studies and social policy at the Berlin Institute on Integration and Migration (BIM). She is Head of the German Center for Integration and Migration (DeZIM) a Ministry-funded research institute that provides empirical analysis on migration and integration and monitors ‘Racist Realities’ for the German government.

    Foroutans research focuses on countries of immigration, their changing identities and attitudes towards minorities as well as the impact of pluralization on norms and values.

    In addition to many tips for the postdoc period, the interview also covers the advantages of paper-based dissertations, the necessity of stays abroad and the development of academic networks.
