    Shutting down men

    Respect

    Collaboration Magic

    Meeting people like you

    About Peter Anthony

I'm The Collaboration Guy because I help businesses, teams and individuals excel with Collabradabra - the magic of collaboration.

As a stubborn introverted 6-year-old my mother insisted I come out of my bedroom to talk to my uncle Harry and his family. I didn't like talking so I would ask my uncle questions and he gave me long funny answers.

As an introvert I was a great student and after university I found myself at IBM. They encouraged us in a year long sales school sales school to sell the IBM way, and I found the more I ignored selling the more clients bought from me and I was on to one of many 100% sales clubs.

Later in a decade in advertising agencies selling clients I found traditional selling didn't work. What did work was demonstrating a unique understanding of the consumer and then you were rewarded with a purchase.

When I started consulting, I taught non salespeople like engineers, lawyers, and accountants how to build the client centric business by not selling but collaborating with clients.

After 10 years of consulting and training in 12 countries and a master’s degree I wrote Collabradabra (rhymes with abracadabra)- the magic of collaborative conversations.

    Jun 13 2023

"If you believe in something, you are willing to argue for your point of view"

    In this episode

    Need more leaders

    People need to step up

    Bringing people together

    Establishing common goals

    Knowing what you believe

    Trial and error

    Being respectful

    Fear of upsetting people

    Wanting to be liked

    Micro-managing life

    About Paul Thornton

For the past 40 years, I have been a student and teacher of management and leadership concepts.

As a student, I conducted interviews and experiments, observed people in various management and leadership roles, and have read widely on the subject. I also learned on the job lessons about managing and leading as a college hockey coach, professor, manager-human resources, executive coach, and parent.

As a teacher, I have written articles (over 100) and 18 books, conducted college classes and seminars, presented speeches, participated in podcasts, and done executive coaching.

My latest books include Leadership Styles, The Leadership Process, and Is Your Organization Aligned?

I am comfortable discussing these topics.

    ---Leadership Styles--Directing, Discussing, and Delegating

---The Leadership Process--1. Diagnose the current situation, 2. Identify opportunities to improve, 3. Prepare and present your message, 4. Create Plan and implement

---Management topics--establishing goals and plans, monitoring progress, coaching and providing feedback, rewarding and recognizing people, and conducting performance appraisals.

--Leadership topics--creating a vision, influencing and inspiring people, making effective presentations, and implementing change.

--Managing stress and dealing with difficult personalities

I studied management, psychology, and political science at Ohio University. I was fortunate to have taken courses taught by Dr. Paul Hersey and Dr. Ken Blanchard. Their courses ignited my interest in learning all I could about what the best leaders and managers do to help people and organizations perform at their best.

I continued my education and earned master’s degrees in business (M.B.A.) and education (M.Ed.).

  • Interview: Jion Blonstein - Zen-Meister & Therapeut
    Jun 12 2023

    About Jion

As a Zen-therapist, I first work with trauma, its imprints and shadows. Some traumata and imprints cannot be found in one’s own life. This includes transgenerational trauma. I also include the Jungian archetypes with shadow-work. As a coach, I look with you for a goal that you want to achieve. Goal-oriented work makes sense especially when you are currently involved in a project or a challenge. Coaching can also bring a lot of nonsense, especially when the motivation which drives you, consists of imprints, trauma, shadows, social constraints and beliefs and thereby falsifies your actual wishes.

As a Zen master, I teach you the art of devotion to your respective experience and life situation. You get to know yourself as something that is bigger than the little “self”. This gives you perspective.

Living and learning Zen in everyday life is the true Zen way. It is a path because no one has ever walked it except you. There is one direction that could be called right. But the way you go is different for every person. Zen therapeutic work is like a cup of good tea, a trip to a distant, remote country or climbing a mountain. There is no particular point in drinking tea or climbing a mountain. But that’s exactly why it’s so fulfilling. Together we take a journey into the subconscious; It often starts with tears and slowly spreads into your everyday life with deep satisfaction and self-awareness.

After working in business in New York City for several years, he attended the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, receiving his doctorate in 1995. His adventures took him and his Labradoodle Tuck to Florida, California, Colorado, and New Mexico.

After experiencing a devastating health crisis and horrific loss, Dr. Brett returned to Connecticut at age 41, rebuilt his life, and developed the philosophy for success that he now shares with his clients. In addition, his book Conversations with Dr. Brett, is currently available on Amazon Kindle.  In this story, Dr. Brett teaches a young woman named Katie much of what he has learned in over 40,000 hours of working with people and living adventurously. With passion, wisdom, and humor, Dr. Brett helps Katie and several others explore present moment time, meditation, mindfulness, and bang-up communication as it relates to love, work, and intimacy.

  • Pondering Life - William Allen - The Sensitive Man
    Jun 8 2023

    About William Allen

“I'm here to help and educate men about the highly sensitive personality trait, in which 20 % of the world's population possesses.”

William Allen is a first-time author with a writer’s heart and researcher’s mind. After getting a degree in Psychology with an eye on doing psychology research, he recalibrated for a career in Information Technology. He found himself in a thirty-year career as an Information Technology manager at Wells Fargo who enjoyed managing highly intelligent, often difficult staff, many of whom were highly sensitive. He was awarded a prestigious Corporate Management Excellence award for his empathetic management style.

He retired early from his corporate job to found his Hypno-coaching and neurofeedback brain training business, BrainPilots, in Bend, Oregon. While in Bend, he co-organized the area’s first Introvert/Highly Sensitive Person discussion group. In late 2016, he began his blog, The Sensitive Man, about his experiences, as a highly sensitive man. The blog became the genesis of his book, Confessions of a Sensitive Man. He feels that HSP males need to take their keen insights and intuition and make them public. He would like to shed more light on highly sensitive males and the much-needed role they need to take in our society.
