    In deze episode schuiven voormalig profvoetballer Martijn Reuser en SEG-agent Peter de Waal aan bij host Joost Hofman. De twee jeugdvrienden, die elkaar nog elke dag spreken, nemen samen de carrière van Martijn door.

    Reuser, die de jeugd bij Ajax doorliep en daarna speelde in misschien wel het beste Ajax aller tijden, won onder meer de Champions League, de wereldbeker en het landskampioenschap. “Wij waren een exponent van de jeugdopleiding”.

    Ook zijn buitenlandse avontuur bij Ipswich Town komt aan bod. Evenals de blessure die bepalend zou zijn voor het verdere verloop van zijn carrière als speler. En hoe wist Reuser al vóór de Champions League finale 1995 dat Kluivert de winnende goal zou scoren?

    Marten de Roon beleefde de meest intense week van zijn carrière: hij stond in de finale van de Coppa Italia, hij zou in de finale van de Europa League spelen én hij zou hoogstwaarschijnlijk deel uitmaken van de selectie vanRonald Koeman voor het komend EK.

    Hoe anders liep het voor de aanvoerder van Atalanta Bergamo. Tegen Juventus, in de bekerfinale, raakte hij dusdanig geblesseerd dat hij de EL-finale moest toekijken vanaf de bank en bondscoach Ronald Koeman moest opbellen om af te zeggen voor het EK.

    Atalanta won de Europa League-finale verrassend, maar “het niet spelen zal de grootste smet op mijn carrière zijn”, aldus Marten.
