    Mar 22 2023
Welcome back RightHab Nation to another installment of the RightHab podcast! If you are new to our channel, then welcome! We seek to help clarify and demystify healthcare and fitness myths. Our goal is to improve quality of care for both professionals (of every level) and patients. If you have ever felt your care was subpar, come follow our channels. In this episode we visit our old friend Arthur. Arthritis. Everyone's "friend" that no one invited. Time was that we blamed "wear and tear" for osteoarthritis (OA). However, the research has shown it to be much more complicated than that. Today we discuss some of the literature regarding arthritis, as well as give some thought to how to treat these issues. Here at RightHab we want to help people avoid unnecessary surgeries and medications and learn how to take their power back. We want patients and practitioners to better understand what treatments are available and how to get better. Mar 15 2023
Welcome back RightHab Nation to the RightHab Channel - Rehab Done Right! If you are new to our channel, then welcome! We seek to help clarify and demystify healthcare and fitness myths. Our goal is to improve quality of care for both professionals (of every level) and patients. If you have ever felt your care was subpar, come follow our channels. Today we talk about the famous MacKenzie treatment system. This has been a staple treatment in Physical Therapy clinics for decades. For some people, it really works! It also gives the patient the power to fix themselves. The problem lies within our rationale and usage of this treatment program. Our patients, and our professions, deserve better than these outdated, proven-wrong philosophies about what is actually happening, and when it is an appropriate intervention. Kick back and listen in on our deconstruction of this ever popular modality of Therapy. Here at RightHab we want to help people avoid unnecessary surgeries and medications and learn how to take their power back. We want patients and practitioners to better understand what treatments are available and how to get better. Feb 22 2023
Welcome back to another episode of RightHab - Rehab Done Right! Our goal is to help clarify healthcare and fitness myths. For patients, we want to help you find natural, non-surgical methods of improving function and pain, while helping to clarify the murky waters of healthcare today. We also want YOU to take an active role in your care and empower you. For professionals, we want to help you cut through the forest of information out there to help you improve your ability to take care of and empower patients. Today, we discuss a few examples of "soft tissue mobilization" treatments. Some people call it massage, some practitioners have other names. So which ones are worth it, which ones are right? Massage has been around in one way or another for centuries. It has also had many off shoots. We discuss a few of these today, which you may (or may not) be familiar with, and give you our take on each. If you have had experience in these areas, from either side, chime in and tell us what you think. What has your experience been? Positive? Negative? Neutral?? • RxHAB- Rehabilitation Protocols
    Feb 16 2023
Welcome back to another episode of RightHab - Rehab Done Right! Today we are talking about rehabilitation protocols. These serve as guidelines and checkpoints for recovery after certain surgeries and injuries, and often times dictate the entire course of care in these cases. But... who writes the protocols? Are they research backed? Are they appropriate? Lucky for you, we discuss these topics in today's episode! For the most part, these should be guidelines for treatment. It is too difficulty to write ONE protocol for ALL people, as there are so many variations between patients with the same procedures. Let us know your opinion! Chime in and give us feedback! Practitioners - What protocols do you use? Are there any you avoid? Patients - What protocols have you been subjected to? How was it? Let's get better together. Join us on our quest to help demystify health and fitness myths in order to improve lives. Hello again RightHabbers! Welcome back to another episode of RightHab- Rehab Done Right! If you have had experience with Physical Therapy, odds are that you have seen some form of modality. This could be electrical stimulation, ultrasound, heat or cold therapy, among others. Today we are talking about some of these common modalities - what do they really do? How effective are they? Is it appropriate? While these modalities have been around for years, the research has been rather conclusive regarding many of them and their utility. Unfortunately this has not necessarily translated to the clinics. Today we look at a list we found online of "common Physical Therapy modalities " and we review the usefulness of each. So, join us today to hear our take on modalities in Physical Therapy that are still used, and how we should be (or shouldn't be) using them.
