This episode, we’re looking back at the history of one of the greatest Mangaka to have every put pen to paper – the late Akira Toriyama.

Toriyama created many loveable characters and series celebrated the world over including Dr Slump, Blue Dragon and Dragon Ball, as well as lending his skills to a number of game designs including the iconic Dragon Quest and it’s slime design, and Chrono Trigger!.

Unfortunately, Toriyama passed away on March 1st, 2024, so join us as we celebrate an artist who helped bring anime to Western audiences and inspired artists the world over!

We’re talking Shimoneta – A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist; an R-rated anime from 2015 that dives head first into the world of censorship and surveillance, through the idea of anything considered pervy or raunchy being outlawed!

Also, please excuse the issues we had with Tifa’s microphone on this one, we’re trialling some new hardware and it seems it acted up, and we only found it in post!
