The Middle To Nowhere

  • Summary

  • Hi, I’m Taylor Blanpied and I love talking to people about life, what motivates them, and what makes them happy. My mind is drawn to think about the vastness of the universe and exploring the unknown and unseen.

Growing up in Waco Texas, I was raised into the Christian belief system, After college, I became agnostic for over decade and was fine with not ever knowing what I believed. Then at the beginning of 2023, I had what some might call a “spiritual awakening” while trying psychedelic mushrooms for the first time, an experience that has forever changed my life and has thrust my world into studying all things spiritual. This shift was so expansive in me, however I have since felt the almost daily friction between this new part of me and my old self.

Much of this podcast will be me and others talking about their inner healing journey, spiritual teachings, struggles, and lessons that me and others are learning in a down to earth way, hopefully taking esoteric concepts and making them easy to comprehend and more relatable.

We are all spiritual beings. I know that there are also a lot people, like me, who have been hurt by their church of origin and have since cut off all things spiritual in their life. One of my goals is to help others open themselves up spiritually without having any agenda for what belief system that may lead them to. There are many paths up the mountain.

I love psychology and the process of self-examination, learning how to question our motives and fears, and I love the idea about helping each other grow through loving awareness and encouragement. I'm also a musician and songwriter and will have other artists on to talk about their process of creating and breaking past their creative blocks.

I hope you enjoy and I wish you love and freedom. - Taylor

I have my first guest on the show, my long time close friend, Jake Augustini. Jake is a fellow Texan, a singer/songwriter, someone who has worked in tech for the past decade, a world traveler, and shares a love for humor and understanding why we think the way we do.

We discuss an array of topics including:

    • The risk of telling people about one’s creative endeavors
    • Identity structures surrounding career, money, and status
    • Struggling with a savior complex and my need for “impact”
    • Early stage momentum with creative ideas
    • The importance of community and getting inspired by others
    • “The 3 C’s” framework: Commitment, Capabilities, and Confidence
    • Fear of committing to different ideas and being "stuck" with them

At the end of the episode, Jake performs one of his original songs, "Ghost.”

  • A Vulnerable First Step
    May 24 2024

In my first podcast, I discuss my journey from being raised in a Christian non-denominational church, to becoming agnostic, and then experiencing what some would call a spiritual awakening. I share my struggles with self-criticism and fear of judgment, which I hope to overcome through the podcast. I also talk about my experiences with therapy, discovering I have ADHD, and my exploration of psychedelic therapy. My spiritual awakening, triggered by my first psychedelic mushrooms experience, led me to a deeper understanding of love and connectedness. I discuss how I hope my podcast will inspire others on their spiritual journeys, and other fun things I plan plan to include in future episodes.
