She has a strong passion for perpetuating the Hawaiian culture and the language. She shares her relocation journey and how she is able to contribute to the Lahui or Hawaiian Community and teach them how to speak Hawaiian.

Todayʻs discussion I'm sharing a quick lesson on another oli called, E Ala e.

Itʻs an oli that is normally done in the morning during sunrise as we face the East and ask the sun to rise and reach the heavens over the mountains into the sky. We chant to the sun which is that great bright light in the sky that truly nourishes our foods and brings us warmth and good seasons. It guides us as we navigate ourselves from one area to the next.

In this episode, I am talk story with a special brave kanaka that joined the airforce and traveled to different areas of this HONUA or world. Kimo is another brave kanaka out there in this big world doing his thing. What a way to represent our homeland of Hawaii by protecting and supporting it. Hear his journey and see the different locations he experienced since leaving Hawaii.

In this episode, I talk story with Maile, a beautiful kanaka maoli wahine. Her roots are from Kauai, but she was born and raised in California then in 1988 moved home to Hawaii on the island of Oahu. She is now retired and living in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hear her journey on how she relocated a few times over the generations, and how she is determined to support the lahui in her residential area.

In this Manaʻo Monday lesson, I share the legend called, "Nanahoa me Kaluau" which takes place in the Ahupuaʻa of Hakipuʻu on the windward side of the island of Oahu. This chant is a love story between a keiki kapu (sacred child) and a beautiful wahine from Kahiki. Tune in and hear the legend, the history, and the chant shared during this episode.
