  • CHRISTMAS SPECIAL: A Conversation with the REAL Santa Claus
    Dec 21 2023

After a decade of friendship, I finally had the incredible opportunity to sit down with my good friend and hero of mine, Santa Claus, on the latest episode of the Working Class Heroes Podcast. This one is special to me and YES he is REAL!!

We can all learn a thing or two about this man's outlook on life, people and all things Heavenly. I am so honoured to have him on this Christmas Special!

In our heartfelt discussion, we navigated through significant topics ranging from the pressing issues of Climate Change, LGBTQ+ rights, and global conflicts in the Middle East, Ukraine, and Africa, to profound reflections on the message of Jesus—love, unity, forgiveness, and living together as one people.

Santa Claus, was born Thomas Patrick O'Connor in May 1947, is not your average figure; he's an American politician, monk, and devoted child welfare activist. Known for his stint on the North Pole, Alaska City Council and a notable candidacy in the 2022 Alaska's at-large congressional district special election, Claus has made waves in the political landscape

    A Life Dedicated to Advocacy

Claus's journey into advocacy began with a deep-rooted interest in child welfare and democratic socialist values, stemming from the challenges he observed in America's youth during his public service. He's spent a considerable part of his life campaigning for underprivileged and marginalized children, volunteering with around 30 different non-profit organizations.

In 2005, Claus took an unconventional approach, changing his name and embracing the Santa Claus image, a move that amplified his advocacy and garnered positive media attention. This journey led him to North Pole, Alaska, in 2013, where he continued his impactful work.

    Political Journey and Achievements

From his early days as a bouncer in New York to his roles in public service broadcasting and emergency response, Claus's career has been diverse. He served as the president of the North Pole Chamber of Commerce and successfully lobbied for Erin's Law, highlighting his commitment to child protection.

As a member of the North Pole City Council, Claus played a pivotal role in advocating for marijuana dispensaries and was re-elected in 2019. His political journey reached a significant milestone in the 2022 Alaska's at-large congressional district special election, where he brought attention to critical issues and finished sixth, subsequently endorsing Democrat Mary Peltola.

    Standing for Progressive Values

Santa Claus is not just a festive symbol; he's a proponent of progressive values. From supporting medical marijuana, advocating for racial justice, corporate accountability, and election freedoms to championing reproductive rights and questioning social media's influence, Claus stands for a vision that transcends the ordinary.

    A Personal Touch

Beyond the political spotlight, Claus's personal life reveals a commitment to service, with over 1,000 volunteer hours annually. As a monk, he has taken a vow of poverty, making a modest income as a North Pole councilman.

Join us in this captivating episode as we unravel the layers of Santa Claus's life, exploring the intricacies of his advocacy, political journey, and the values that drive him. It's a conversation filled with depth, compassion, and a touch of the extraordinary.

I hope you enjoy this special episode on the Christmas Special of the Working Class Heroes Podcast.
