  • Hi everyone! I'm back for another episode of My Wholesome Writing Life with me, Van Hoang, and today is building character voice and the solutions I implement when I'm struggling!

    1. Write out a backstory scene with the character to spend more time with and get to know them--something that won't happen directly on the page of the novel

    2. Start a character voice journal --have your character journal from their point of view

    3. Have the character write letters to their bestie! You talk to your best friend differently than how you talk to anyone else, and this really brings out a side of your character you might not have noticed before

    Bonus: Have them write letters to someone they don't like, then compare how they talk to their worst enemy and how they talk to someone they love.
