  • Summary

  • “A journalist enjoys a privileged position. In exchange for not being able to participate in the rough-and-tumble issues of a community, we are given license to observe it all, based on the understanding that we’ll tell everyone what happens fairly and squarely. That’s harder than it sounds.” So said the American journalist Bill Kurtis. In the haulage industry this privileged position has been achieved by a few but one name stands out and that has to be Brian Weatherley who started as the secondary photographer at Commercial Motor way BACK in the mists of time. After a 40 year career and rising to the position of editor Brian became  a champion of the industry and wrote about it with honesty and intelligence whilst also undertaking great feats such as driving a lorry from Munich to Moscow when the latter was BACK in the  USSR.
