    Dat Julian ooit zou kiezen voor 'Homer's Phobia' stond in de sterren geschreven. Homer ontmoet een zekere John, en al snel lijkt het alsof ze de beste vrienden zijn. Tot Homer ontdekt dat John 'the company of men' prefereert. Plots verandert de zelfzekere, vrolijke Homer in een homofoob, eng mannetje. 

    Zou 'Homer's Phobia' vandaag nog gemaakt kunnen worden? Vermoedelijk wel. Uiteindelijk is de aflevering zelf vrij progressief, zeker voor 1997. Niemand is het eens met Homer zijn backwards thinking, meer zelfs, hij is the butt of the joke. Maar wij zijn natuurlijk drie bange blanke heteromannen, dus deze episode bespreken is toch een beetje navigeren door een mijnenveld.
