Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better, and look cooler, than $20 no-names... and believing it makes it true.

In his bravest and most challenging book yet, Seth Godin shows how we can thrive in an economy that rewards art, not compliance. He explains why true innovators focus on trust, remarkability, leadership, and stories that spread. And he makes a passionate argument for why you should be treating your work as art. Art is not a gene or a specific talent. It's an attitude, available to anyone who has a vision that others don't, and the guts to do something about it.

I LOVE Seth but...
Disclaimer: I absolutely LOVE Seth and his content. I’ve been following him for years.
However, I really wish Seth got a professional narrator as the narration was very arduous might inevitably made the content drag on unnecessarily.
I couldn’t finish the book. I felt super disengaged.

I couldn't help but get very mad evrrytime I listen to this audiobook.
Horrible narrating and voice, I'm so mad just thinking about his voice. Sorry Seth. Next time give it to someone who is good at reading. There is a reason why you're a marketer and another person is a narrator, you can't be both.
This book probably has value, I'm sure it does, but Seth makes it very hard to understand.

Marketing can’t possibly be more boring than this
I could not get past the first few chapters without wondering, should I continue the second half of the book and hoping it will get better or just accepting the fact that I’ve just wasted couple of hours?
The narrative is plain and flat, it’s like you reading a bedtime story for your kids and hoping they will fall asleep fast. There’s no storyline, just sentences put together and go on and on. Theres no marketing plan or real practical strategies to follow, just theories one after another.

Go for the physical book instead.
In all honesty, if it wasn’t for the great content of this book and the solid material Seth had put into it, I would’ve never finished it. But I did finish it eventually because I cared a lot about the content.
I love when authors narrate their own book since it has that personal touch to it. But in this case, Seth’s voice could use some vocal training or voice coaching to beat that steady, low-tuned, slow-paced rhythm that puts listeners to sleep, and instead bring that energy, tone and varying pace to get listeners to want to hear more of that gold content. I’d still prefer that over hiring a different person to narrate the book.
So if you want to make the most out of this book, buy the hard copy instead and you’ll thank me later.
Nonetheless, thanks Seth for making this book and for the great content you put into it. It really gave me an eye-opening perspective into marketing and I truly appreciated it.

In itself the proof of Seth's perspective
I'm an avid listener of Seth's podcast, Akimbo, and was glad to find that everything he talks about on his podcasts is also discussed on his book — There is nothing new in the book! Is that a problem? Not at all! It's just proof that Seth truly lives his own philosophy on marketing. He generously offers his knowledge for free in his podcasts and, as he suggests in his teachings, people like me will be happy to purchase a souvenir from those they respect and admire. I'm proud to have this beautifully written book on my (digital) shelf. Seth's perspective on marketing is inspiring. Seth is a remarkable human being. Thank you for your work!

Generous as always
I’m a fan of Seth’s work already, so this is a nice culmination of everything he’s done before.
The main emphasis I feel, is in its underlying spirit of generosity. Specifically, he encourages that characteristic from start to finish. This alone makes it different to other marketing books, including the many I expect Seth has read himself in coming up with his own take on it.
It’s rare that I ever get an audiobook on the day it comes out, but this time, I did. Perhaps this highlights Seth’s career path: be generous, and you’ll likely get some back in a truly natural way.
Thanks Seth. You made a ruckus.

I am quite hesitant in giving 5/5 reviews...
...but putting my bias towards Seth (all his works align with my values) I'd like to give you a short and concise decision making help with "should I listen to it or not?".
I was skeptic a little due to the fact that I know what Godin's preaching is and wasn't expecting much novelty, but man I got pleasant surprise! It's one short and packed production, even more valuable than other books of Seth. You can easily listen to it on x1.25 or x1.5 without distorting voice too much, which is another benefit (great voice delivery that works for multiple listeners). Quite a fresh content which sits on shoulders of giants (known knowns) but somehow feels like "eureka".
Pleasant from very start to very end and it was probably the first of Seth's audiobooks that I finished so fast and was really sad it ended so quick. Very much valid insights, up to date and still ahead of time on many levels!

Got a few hours in and had to stop.
I loved Seth's other books but this was let down... it's difficult to grasp the underlying points with the strange structuring of his sentences.

I like Seth but nothing new here
This book was a real let down, I like Seth's books normally but after listening to this for 7 hours I was left scratching my head - learned nothing new. I'm sure if you are new to marketing or have not listened to Seth before this would be a worthwhile listen.

A tough listen
Yawn. I hope the book is an easier read than it is to listen. His voice sends me to sleep

Simple concepts, horribly narrated
VERY hard to listen.
The first few chapters were filled with a repetitive selling self help you-can-change-your-life kind of speech that not only was tiring, but felt completely out of place and unnecessary. The rest of the content had one or two interesting concepts, but nothing revolutionary.
But the narration. The main problem is the narrator, Seth Godin himself. Not only was he monotone, but he kept making weird stops in the middle of the sentences that could not be explained by normal English punctuation -it was very hard to figure out what the sentences even meant. You couldn’t tell whether he was starting a new sentence, ending one or just inventing comas in the wrong places. I simply could not listen to it any longer.
