Story
I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

Story
Arthur Leywin knew well the cold terror of war. Yet, in his past life as King Grey, he had never lost a friend, mentor, or loved one; he had none to lose. Now, though, Arthur must accept that even those closest to him must take up arms to defend their homes as the enemy force seeks new methods to strike at the heart of Dicathen. In his quest to stop the approaching army, Arthur must travel to the dwarven kingdom of Darv, gain mastery of the four elements, battle some of the Vritra’s mightiest champions, and overcome a grievous betrayal.

Publisher's Summary
The Beginning After the End: Publisher's Pack 2 contains books 3 and 4 of The Beginning After the End series.
Beckoning Fates (book 3):
Was I taking this life for granted? Having this amount of power at my age had made me lose some of the sense of rationality I’d had in my former life. No longer a king, no longer tied down by rules and politics, I’d become careless. In this world, my potential was boundless.
Though Arthur Leywin would like nothing more than to pursue his studies at the esteemed Xyrus Academy, where he hopes to push his already potent magical abilities to new plateaus and perhaps discover something more about his reincarnation into this world, he finds the politics of the school’s halls even more challenging to navigate than those of the council chambers he once inhabited as King Grey. Arthur faces inept professors, jealous classmates, and an overeager director while fending off the affection of an old friend and the aggression of an old enemy. Then a routine class trip into a low-level dungeon turns out to be anything but, and Arthur discovers something that will change his life forever.
Horizon's Edge (book 4):
In my past life I hadn’t had anyone I would have given my life to protect. I had that now, but I didn’t have the strength to protect them - not against what was about to come.
In another life, Arthur Leywin was a king and no stranger to war. He was not ready, however, to find himself at the heart of a conflict that will reshape his entire new world. Despite his abilities, it seems as if the danger only increases with every discovery he makes. His oldest friend succumbs to a power that may destroy her, a power Arthur gave her. His most constant foe accepts a dark gift to challenge Arthur’s strength, an act that threatens all of Xyrus Academy. How can he keep his family safe if his very presence is the thing that draws danger to them? Can he dispel the specters of war before it is too late?

About the ending (no spoilers)
reading the reviews for this and many people are not liking the ending but i think its important to know that this novel is originally a webnovel so it doesn't have a defined end for each book.
Do i dislike where book 4 ended, yes; it was unsatisfying. am i going to stop reading the series because of it, no; the story has only just begun and has almost 300 chapters (as of writing the review) already released as the webnovel and book 1-4 only covers 100 of those chapters, not to mention the other published books that are already out.

Great start. Predictable and boring in the end.
*Sigh*
What is with contemporary authors? Why are they always ruining a good story premise with predictable, boring plots?
And why must the MC ALWAYS fall from grace? Why must the MC’s family ALWAYS be threatened? Why must the MC ALWAYS be blind, naive, and clueless. And yet smart and arrogant at the same time?

Felt like a different author than books 1&2.
The good part, Travis Baldree was amazing as always. Books 1&2 were great, but that may have made this worse!
(Edit) After some reflection most of my outrage has nothing to do with book 3. But, that is because it is sort of light and enjoyable, since nothing really progresses I'd say it is filler. However, I would have preferred more of that instead of book 4. ( end Edit) (now if only I can stop editing and adding to this review!)
This was an overwhelming silly book. The MC can no longer think. In books 1&2 the MC makes informed decisions using the experience of his past life. But, in this book he can only make the worse most implosive and emotional decisions. The worst part is that these decisions are just the MC's reaction to other people. After finishing I struggle to remember the MC doing anything on his on initiative in books 3&4. It felt like he was just dragged around for 2 books. Who is this MC? What happened to the MC from books 1&2?! Why can't anyone talk to anyone else about anything that happened?
The closer book 4 got to the end, the sillier it became. I can't even talk about all the silly things for fear of spoiling. This book took the buildup from book's 1&2 and just wasted it. Internal consistency, what is that? Character consistency? You can just throw that out the window to add more emotion, again, and again, and again.
The flow of books 1&2 revolved around the MC making decisions and exploring the world. There were some coincidences, two particular meeting, and the MC even gained a special item through coincidence. But, throughout the story I felt like the author really did the leg work to get from point A to point B. What the author wanted to happen in book 4 was really contrary to what was previously setup. He had to move lots of characters around in a very artificial way in order to have the conclusion he wanted, but without leaving the setting that has been solidifying.
This lead to a climax in book 4, where the characters acted out of character, a villain was created for the MC that lacked the motivation to carry out his acts, And finally, the MC could only do everything the worst possible way, emotionally, reactionally, without thought or consideration. But, even then, things would have been radically different if the timing was even slightly different for anyone leaving or entering the last part of book 4. A quick count brings me to 5 perfectly timed arrivals or departures to arrive at the authors desired outcome. It was maddening!
Honestly, this book (book 4) felt like a completely different author took over and just did what ever he wanted. What a disappointment.

Don't Listen To the Negative Reviews.
This is still a very solid progression series.
Yes there is a cliff hanger. If that ruins an entire book series for you, never watch a TV show ever.
Yes there are overpowered character. Welcome to the GENRE that's kind of the point. This part of the series was developing the true villains of the series so of course they are going to be stronger. How boring would it be if the main character was the most powerful the entire time.
The Negative reviews on this book silly and from people who really don't get the genre of cultivation. They have the right to there opinion, but don't let there opinion take away from the fact that this was enjoyable the whole way through.

If you like pointless under powered side characters, over powered villains who can do whatever they want because your main character can only react never plan ahead, and a stupid cliffhanger this is the book for you!!!

I was really starting to get into this series. but the ending. (no I'm not going to spoil it) In cliffhanger like that at the end no good especially being one with such a Negative overtone. in my opinion they're just cheap tricks of authors who can't do anything better.I thought this author was much better than that, but sadly no.

doesn't deliver compared to the last installments in the series. very little time spent developing Arther and when he Is talked about it's always the same few things. His friends have stuff going on but it's got no time line or order to it.
this happens and then this then the book randomly jumps to another charecter and so on.
the ending was also unrealistic considering what we know of the universe

Goosebumps, laughter and tears
The first two books were really good. These two? Absolutely amazing!
I especially loved book 4! I am glad that I'm listening to it when the next book is already out because that ending would have killed me.

not as good as the first
bit too short and ended on a cliffhanger, the character seemed to become more and more deviant from his original character as the book progressed. still love the series. bit disappointed with this particular book

gem among gems
This book gives so much, it builds on characters skills and on their progress. It shows the budding relationships between people and then leaves you with more questions... I need more!
