Publisher's Summary

This Sky Brooks bundle includes books one through four.

Moon Tortured: The Midwest Pack has three goals: Protect the pack. Protect the pack. And yeah, protect the pack. I have my own goal: Live a simple life and hope no one ever discovers that the quiet young woman next door turns into a wolf.

Darkness Unchained: Just survive. That's been my goal since uncovering a dangerous secret: I died at birth and became host to a very powerful spirit shade. Now I have the rare ability to manipulate magic - an ability some would kill for.

Midnight Falls: My life will never be simple again. As a werewolf who is a host to a powerful spirit shade, I possess the ability to manipulate magic, among other things - and that means I have many enemies. In need of allies, I join the Midwest Pack.

Lunar Marked: The Midwest Pack used the Clostra to perform a powerful and dangerous spell to save me. Now the pack is dealing with the aftermath and doing damage control. But they can't hide how the magic has changed the dynamics of the otherworld - or that they are responsible.

Good Box Set - Slow Narrator

I first started listening Sky Brooks Books 1-4 with the narration by Jorjeana Marie about ready to turn it off because it was a very slow narration. The story was promising so I stuck with it and when I turn the narration speed to 1.2 it worked out great.
You find it slow when you start listening to it just up the narration speed and you’ll find it’s a really good box set in story

The narrator almost ruined it all.

The story itself is written well. Thank goodness too! It was very hard to stay with the story, the narrator, in my opinion was slow and drawn out. Because of that I almost didn't give the story a chance. I am glad I made ît through the first 4 books. This helps me with my decision to finish the rest of the series. So if you can get through the first book you should be able to finish no matter who the narrator is! I really like the story line and am glad I stuck with it.

Blargs!

Admittedly, I have not finished the final book but I just couldn’t wait to review. Save your credit! I was excited about finally having a decent length listen... but oh do I regret that now. I have wanted to quit on this series 1,000 times, and if I weren’t so stubborn I would. These start out bad and instead of getting better, they stay bad! There is no good love interest- there are a few I guess but they all suck and you never feel it with any of them. Book two randomly starts using a two narrator structure, but without warning or clarity- so it is VERY confusing because the same narrator does both characters and she in no way attempts to change her voice. The narrator is not great either- she is very monotone and it’s hard to follow at times because she says everything the same way. Also means that “exciting” scenes feel the exact same as quiet ones. The story is also bad, it has moments where I think it’s getting somewhere - but then quickly gives that up for something else before exploring it and actually making us care. I’m in the final book, and I still couldn’t tell you what these books are really about, what the core of it is. Overall I would call this a skip. There are interesting aspects and it’s only one credit so I did buy it- but I also kind of hate listening to it Soo... you do you

Not invested enough to carry on

Listened to the first book but just not interested enough to carry on. The character developments were boring and slow and the antagonists rather insignificant. Will be returning, pity though as it seemed very good value for 1 credit.

Sooo… this was an sad angry..

This maybe the saddest twilight esk book. It’s depressing to hear how the main characters loathe everyone and everything else except their “pack”. Or her animal nature. The relationship side is almost nonexistent and honestly it is not for me. Story can be slightly captivating in places but then it repeats hateful things and depressing moments over and over again. Most of the characters fight constantly and then kiss it’s strange. I can appreciate a level of angst in a book but these books are a semi repetitive.

Characters and narration frustrating

The first 4 books are frustrating. I feel like, in the ~2 yr. time span that is covered, there is very little growth in the characters. Especially Skylar. She still makes bad decisions and isn’t very strong or powerful. Her reliance on everyone else is irritating, and the situation with Quell is just annoying and doesn’t really lend anything interesting to the story.
I’m not a fan of this narrator. Like another series I listen to that she narrates, I have to listen with the audio sped up 1.25x because she is so slow and drawn out. There is no inflection in her voice, even during scenes that should involved a lot of emotion and/or anguish. Completely matter of fact and passionless. Everyone’s voices sounds the same, except Claudia - who she had ascribed a horribly annoying voice to that is so far from a South African accent that I don’t know why she bothered trying.
Overall, it’s just meh. Not sure if I will continue the series.

Interesting books, but bad narrator

While I am interested in reading these books, the audiobooks are impossible to listen to. The narrator is mono tone and sounds half asleep with little to no inflection when reading. Give these books a chance, but don't listen to them.

Not worth the single credit

The narrator over-enunciated and the delivery felt deliberately slow. I had to speed it up just to try and make listening tolerable. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into the story because she was very nasally, thus, every character sounded as if they had a stuffy nose.

Riveting

If you love magic, drama, suspense and a jolly good story with a bit of sauce thrown in. This is the series for you. Brilliantly read. Totally addictive!
