Disappointing performance

Absolutely love this series but sorely disappointed with the change of narrator. Very little change in voice so all the characters sound the same. really wish Michael Chatfield had stuck with the same narrator who had nailed all the characters voices and kept the story varied and interesting. I bought this book the moment I saw it had come out, not for a second thinking the narrator would have changed so far into the series. I really hope Todd Menesses comes back for the rest of the series, otherwise I'll have to give up on the audio books.

worse narrator shorter length

although there was sound quality issues in previous that was improved in this one, the change in narrator doesn't suit the story as well as the previous books. throw in that they made this a 2 part while cutting the length in half really reduced the value of the audio book.

Excellent storyline, terrible voice actor

Todd menesses gave the characters life and made the book come alive. This new dude is so dreary and monotonous I couldn’t finish listening to the book without falling asleep, and considering i listen to these books while I’m driving heavy trucks, that’s not a good thing. I will not purchase the remaining books if this same voice actor does the rest of the series

struggled with the audio

always difficult if a narrator changes through a series, but I also struggled to understand what the narrator was saying when listening to the audio book in my car

Narrator

I struggled to tell which character was talking. The previous narrating was so much better. Neil keeps his voice pretty much the same the whole book

Otherwise the books are bloody great!

Awesome series!

This awesome and interesting story of two marines, who fell into a D&D game style world, continues as they level up and make break throughs to expert level, and a changes of thought processes. Along with all their subsidiary characters, and new ventures and quests.
I did find the change of narrator distracting, as I was used to certain voices for characters, however by the end I was sucked back into the world and am looking forward to future books!

not bad, but half the value

making this half the length and swapping to a worse narrator makes this book feel like a money grab.

think of how much better physical version would look with 10 equally sized books in a collection...

always feels weird changing narrator mid series

I like Neil hellengers as a narrator but the other dude fit better even if his female characters sounded commily bad. At lest Neil doesn't say "simple" like it's the most important word in the book.

I do like the series but I feel like a editor needs to go over the whole thing again, Rugrat coming to the amazing World altering realisation that he needs to make a railgun for the 3rd time and his whole world view shifting makes him seem like he has alzheimer's.
