Publisher's Summary

Defeat the monsters, become the champion, save the survivors.

A sliver of humanity abandons Earth, forced into the skies because genetically enhanced monsters rule the world. Four hundred years later, the Salvation Fleet returns, desperate to unload their overcrowded decks. Darcy - the AI mastermind who controls the fleet - uses simulated competitions called the Reincarnation Trials to determine who becomes a council member and who earns the right to join the first colony.

Theo achieves Citizen status after a decade of arduous training and is thrust into the Reincarnation Trials. Ready to help humanity survive, he enters the Snagglewood competition. The theme is a western, where he defends humanity against the monsters invading its shores. While he strives for first on the leader boards, the real world calls for his help.

After being gone for so long, Earth transitions into a very dangerous place filled with narocks who call the overgrown jungles and forests home. Hidden among the terrors, pockets of humanity cower under the surface, most of them in urgent need of rescue.

Weird and largely pointless.

Everything is forced and a bit cringey. The voice acting was good but the story is sub par at best. Sure have your character be omnipotent while being the only superhuman child grown to adulthood. plus railroading everything so that everything thing the MC says is right and talk about alterate settings and themes while doing nothing with it.

The only theme is western, yet it isn't executed well at all as the constant switch between rp and rl leaves no tension at all. you feel no connection with any characters and the MC comes off as a bit of an incel despite the good voice acting. I mean that could be an outcome of the setting rather than a deliberate choice but I find it hard to seperate the authors writing and the characters takes considering how much his opinion is brought up then subsequently reinforced with the plot devices in the Reincarnation trials.

overall the book is weird and largely pointless.
