If you are looking for a quick explanation of what Stoicism is, then this might be your thing. But if you are looking to expand your thinking, this is not the right book. What was missing was a conversation about the applications of stoicism and how it applies to you today. There was mention of this at points in the book, albeit brefily, but not enough to overcome the book's lack of depth.

This book will guide you through the origins and teachings of Stoicism, through direct quotes and experiences from its founding fathers. Very good at teaching the basics and history of stoicism. Putting this philosophy into practice will be easier having read this book.
Excellent book on stoicism! This book begins with a brief introduction about what stoicism is and how to recognize the things that are under our control. After reading this book I have now understand how emotions work and use it properly. But most of all I learn the importance of freedom of will. Everyone should try reading this book!
This book also provides the secret tips of having stoic life in order to live a happiness and peaceful life. Therefore, this book posted all the essential info here that need to know. I'd like to give all the credit to the author for a nice and easier explanation. I have used the psychological exercises in the book and experienced greater tranquility and equanimity in adversity. This book went pretty deeply into stoic philosophy, and the roots of stoicism, which is what I wanted. This book is all what we need. As it is very inspiring and motivating. It is always good to nourish our mind with a lot of information such as this. I really enjoyed the chapter on reflection and the questions to ask yourself. Good book thanks.

The way in which he writes is easily understandable, Excellent book for someone to get very basic ideas of stoic philosophy. It would be perfect if you want to introduce someone to stoicism who had never heard of it.
