Publisher's Summary

Do you want to think like the man who perfected his mind, thoughts, and focus? Well...then you need to learn more about the great inventor Thomas Edison.

Thomas Alva Edison, one of the world’s greatest inventors, was born in Milan, a little canal town in Erie County, Ohio, on February 11, 1847. On his father’s side, he was descended from an excellent family of Dutch millers. They lived in New Netherland but eventually moved to New Jersey in the year 1737.

As a boy, he was already showing signs of genius. Even during playtime, he showed the mechanical turn of his mind by building plank roads, digging caves, and exploring the banks of the canal. However, playtime was soon to be finished and exchanged for massive work, for, when he was only seven years old, a depression in commercial affairs caused his father to lose a lot of his wealth and become poorer. As a result, he had to leave his home in Milan which was very dear to him. He took his family to live in the town of Port Huron, Michigan. Due to the financial struggles, Edison was just a boy when he had to work to earn a living. Although the situation was tough, it didn’t stop Edison from continuously improving his mind however he could, such as by reading.

In Detroit, when he was just a boy, he found his treasure in the Free Library. He was absolutely delighted with the sight of countless books in front of him. He used to read in the library in his free time. A thought passed his mind to read the entire library, taking the books one at a time. He stuck at nothing, reading straight on, and had actually read through 15 feet of books before others discovered what he was about and checked his proceedings.
